Restaurant Roundup: $1 for No. 1 Taco Bravo, new catering company

To celebrate the Taco Bravo being named the No. 1 fast-food taco for a second year in a row by USA Today readers, Taco John’s is selling the hard shell taco wrapped in a flour tortilla with refried beans for $1 on Wednesday. Orders must be placed at the restaurant.

On Mondays when you’re craving tacos and don’t want to wait for the usual taco Tuesday specials, PAve is the place. Get half-price tacos – beef, chicken or steak – El Guapo Nachos, margaritas and the Mexican beers Corona, Modelo and Pacifico.

BibiSol has started Salas Catering Co. “to create a space dedicated entirely to catering while staying true to everything that makes BibiSol special: the food, the hospitality and the care we put into every meal,” the restaurant said in an email to its followers. “Whether you’re planning a small dinner with loved ones or a celebration with hundreds of guests, we’d be honored to be part of it. Fan-favorite Popcorn Chicken returned to the menu at KFC earlier this month after a three-year absence. The fried bites were introduced in the early 1990s but disappeared in 2023. Now, they’re back “only while supplies last,” the company said. Get 16 ounces in a bucket for $10, as a 6-ounce combo meal for $8.50 or as a Big Box with 6 ounces, two tenders, fries, a cookie and drink for $11.

Red Lobster’s annual limited-time Crabfest features new flavors and lots of returning favorites. For the Crab Your Way entree, diners can choose snow or bairdi crab legs with six flavors, including the new Mike’s Hot Honey option. Ruby Tuesday has new bowls for summer: Garlic Butter Steak, Hawaiian Ahi Tuna and Hot Honey Chicken. Other seasonal menu items include the Big Chicken & Ribs Feast, Big Country Fried Chicken, Big Shrimpin’ Platter, Jalapeno Smashed Burger, new chicken sandwiches, Ahi Tuna Nachos, Buffalo Chicken Dip and Ruby’s Ultimate Potato Sampler with fries, tots and loaded potato skins. Seasonal flavor lemon raspberry has returned to Nothing Bundt Cakes. Lemon-flavored batter is swirled with raspberry puree before baking and then topped with signature cream cheese frosting. It’s available through Aug. 20.

Thursday is Miracle Treat Day at Dairy Queen. Stores donate at least $1 from every Blizzard treat or coupon sold to local Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. For the Sioux Falls area, that’s Sanford Children’s Hospital.

And there’s still time to try Dairy Queen’s Blizzard flavors that were introduced at the start of the World Cup: Strawberry Mango Mochi, Biscoff Cookie and Mexican-Style Hot Chocolate.

Changes in hours, service

• Big Poppa’s Pizza now opens later on Sundays at 3 p.m., still closing at 9. Hours every other day are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. For delivery orders through the pizzeria’s website, it has switched to using a third-party service, which offers availability all day while still remaining cheaper than the big-name third-party operators.
• BlackFork Farms Tasting Room has updated its hours: 3:30 to 10 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, 3:30 to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 3:30 to 9 p.m. Sunday.
