4 new things to eat this week

We cover new restaurant openings literally all the time at our sister site, SiouxFalls.Business, which also means we can dig into the menu so you know what’s in store for you.

It’s really hard to choose just a couple of dishes from the three-course meals being served for Downtown Restaurant Week, but we managed.

Check out the taccozzette con stracotto at R Wine Bar & Kitchen: braised pork ragu served with pappardelle and topped with pecorino romano.

And bonus points to Minervas for this creative dessert: The Asteroid That Hits South Dakota. Think chocolate souffle, nutmeg vanilla ice cream, chocolate sphere, melted chocolate and Wall Drug chocolate rocks!

Not sure what this says about Sioux Falls diners, but Carnaval Brazilian Grill held a March Madness-style bracket competition called Meat Madness designed for guests to pick their favorite dishes. And the winner was … cinnamon-roasted pineapple, which “slightly edged the signature beef picanha,” the restaurant said. “We know that pineapple is not a meat, but our pineapple is too good to be beat!”

April Fool’s Day might be a distant memory, but it’s still worth sharing this creation from Culver’s released April 1. The CurderBurger was promoted as “one big Wisconsin cheese curd under a lightly buttered, toasted bun,” the restaurant recommended diners check the date of the post before ordering it.

But the response was so positive, Culver’s also included a menu hack to make one:

1. Order a ButterBurger and a side of cheese curds.

2. Place cheese curds underneath the top bun.

3. CurderBurger!
