4 new things to eat this week

We cover new restaurant openings literally all the time at our sister site, SiouxFalls.Business, which also means we can dig int o the menu so you know what’s in store for you. Here are our four picks to eat this week.

The new Oppa Chicken isn’t offering its full menu yet of Korean dishes, but why not start with the signature item anyway? The restaurant at 41st and Western offers six flavors of fried chicken in either traditional or boneless wings. Co-owner Leon Teng’s favorite in the soy garlic, but our first try was Hot Spicy, which gets two chili peppers for its level-of-spiciness designation on the menu. Korean-style wings are thin-battered and fried twice to give them a light crispiness. The sauce is brushed on by hand, so it’s not too heavy.

Papa Johns has new Papa Bites. They’re pizza dough rolled up with savory or sweet ingredients. Flavors include chicken parmesan, jalepeno cheese or Oreo cookie. Each order comes with eight bites.

We like the thought process behind this new menu item. Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers has created the Frozen Hot Chocolate Shake. It’s made with Ghirardelli Premium Hot Cocoa mix with vanilla custard and marshmallow sauce.

Have you tried freeze-dried candy yet? If not, here’s an original treat from Burkett’s Freeze Dried Treats. Burkett’s Brittle Bombs are made using locally sourced honey from JBee’s Honey & Supply. Find Burkett’s candies at Watecha Bowl, Gift & Thrift, Thunder Road, The Gas Barrel, Giving Hope Bingo, The Hive by Westside or online.
