The Week Ahead is our hand-picked event guide to the next seven days in Sioux Falls and slightly beyond. For guaranteed placement or to promote your event ahead of time, email [email protected] about a featured event listing.

Oct. 27: Three comedians

Internationally touring comedian Monica Nevi will perform at 9 p.m. Friday at Black Flag Studios, 2301 W. Madison St. Joining her on stage are special guests TR Risk, a Sioux Falls comic, with host Eric the Green, a Louisville, Kentucky, native now based in Sioux Falls. Nevi has been seen on Fox’s “Laughs” and ESPN’s “SportsCenter” and debuted two albums in late 2020.

Oct. 27-28: Balloon Glow

The Sioux Falls Ballooning Association will bring the Great Pumpkin Balloon Glow to Yankton Trail Park at sunset — about 6:20 p.m. — Friday and Saturday. The balloons will not be flying, but if the winds are calm, the balloons will inflate and glow.

Oct. 28: Zombie Walk

It will be the ’80s this weekend. No, not the temperatures, unfortunately. That’s the theme for this year’s Sioux Falls Zombie Walk on Saturday. A button to walk in the parade costs $5. Makeup application is from noon to 3 p.m. at Remedy Brewing Co. at 8th & Railroad Center. The 8th & Railroad parking lot and the dirt lot just east of that will be open and available for participants. Viewers should use the public parking ramps. The parade starts at 4 p.m. and goes from the parking lot behind Remedy, west on Eighth Street to Phillips Avenue and north to Sixth Street. Get more details at siouxfallszombiewalk.com.

Oct. 29: Downtown trick-or-treat

Break out the Halloween costumes a little early, and bring your kids downtown for a fun afternoon of trick-or-treating! Participating downtown businesses will hand out treats from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday. No preregistration is necessary; just stop at participating locations. Click here for the locations on Google Map.

Oct. 29: World’s Longest Marathon

The World’s Longest Marathon, designed to thank those who have been fighting for Ukraine’s freedom and those who support them, will be run Sunday. Locally, the event will begin at 2 p.m. at Pasley Park. You also can take part virtually. To learn more, click on this link.

Oct. 29: Trunk ART Treat

Looking for a three-in-one event? How about an art show, a trunk-or-treat and a benefit for The Teddy Bear Den, all in one. Donate diapers and baby toiletries such as lotions, soaps, shampoos and wipes to win prizes. Talented artists will be ready to show you their art and give out candy. The event is sponsored by Sunshine Foods and DopeSoul Customs. It will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the grocery store, 530 S. Second Ave.
