May 29: Passage unveiling
Passage, the sculpture by Colorado artist Christopher Weed, will be unveiled and lighted at 8:30 p.m. Thursday at 505 N. Metli Place. The steel installation features a keyhole design that captures sunrise and sunset. It has been installed in front of Ironwood Steakhouse and Lloyd Landing. After the unveiling, there will be a champagne toast at Alcove, which will be open until 10 p.m.

May 30-31: Book sale
Here’s a way to support student journalism. The Lincoln High School newspaper, The Statesman, which is 100 percent student-led, is hosting a used-book sale from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. to noon Saturday in the school cafeteria, 2900 S. Cliff Ave. Money raised will help with printing expenses, along with the costs of running the website. Paperbacks are $2, hardcovers $3.

May 31: Soccer at the zoo
Dakota Alliance Soccer Club will host Soccer at the Great Plains Zoo from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. You’re invited to kick it with the wildest team in town by enjoying soccer games, animal-themed challenges and all-ages fun. Wear your soccer jersey. The event takes place inside the zoo, 805 S. Kiwanis Ave.

May 31: Car care
Know a young driver who would like to learn more about car maintenance? SWT Total Car Care, 901 S. Cliff Ave., is offering a free teaching program designed to help young drivers gain confidence in basic car maintenance. The class focuses on fluid levels, tires and batteries. The next session is from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday. To learn more or register, visit here.

May 31: Arts & craft show
An evening of music, community and art will raise funds for The Compass Center, which provides support and counseling for victims of sexual and domestic violence. Together We Heal, an arts and crafts show, will run from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday at 218 W. 13th St., Suite 112. Arts and crafts vendors will be joined by live music, live art, food trucks and face painting. There also will be raffle items.

June 1: Summer art series
Good NAtured, 921 E. Eighth St., will begin its Summer Art Series, a rotation of four do-it-yourself workshops over three months, starting this Sunday from noon to 2 p.m. The season includes linocut prints, sewing, decoupage and chunk candle-making; you can learn more here. Individual classes cost $20; save if you book more than one. Tickets are available here.
