March 30: Heavy-metal disco

Love disco but hate heavy metal? Love heavy metal but hate disco? Confused? Maybe you should attend “Tragedy: All Metal Tribute to the Bee Gees & Beyond” at 7 p.m. Thursday at Bigs Bar, 3110 W. 12th St. The band takes disco, soft-rock and pop classics and reimagines them as heavy metal. Ticket sales end just before the show ends. Cost is $15 today, $20 Thursday.

April 1: Trans Day of Visibility

The Transformation Project is hosting a Trans Day of Visibility to celebrate the trans community, its allies and loved ones. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at 300 N. Phillips Ave., Suite 120. The day will include a community lunch, board games and crafts for all ages, a teen corner, a raffle, vendors and “messages of hope” artwork.

April 1: One Book Siouxland kickoff

“Accidental Rancher” has been chosen as this year’s One Book Siouxland. To celebrate, activities will be from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Siouxland Libraries’ downtown branch. In partnership with Dakota Rural Action, you can browse local vendors that highlight sustainability practices. There also will be a storytime, other children’s activities and FarmHer: South Dakota, a traveling display from the South Dakota Agricultural Heritage Museum.

April 1: Basket Bingo

The Sioux Falls Lutheran School Booster Club will host its fourth annual Basket Bingo on Saturday at the school, 6715 S. Boe Lane. Doors open at 6 p.m., with bingo starting at 6:30 p.m. Prizes include baskets filled with unique items. It costs $20 to play; this is an all-ages event.

April 1: Celebrate April Fool’s Day

Why so serious? Need to laugh? Then come to Ken’s Korner, 918 W. Sixth St., for an All Fools Day party Saturday. Expect whacky outfits, fun hats, good times and adult beverages. The Dakota Clay Band & The Brassholes will provide live music in the evening. It all begins at 5:17 p.m.

April 5: Nature for kids

A pile of paper earthworms awaits your preschooler. On Wednesday, Good Earth State Park southeast of Sioux Falls is offering Little Acorns, a program designed for children age 3 to 5, that include a story, lesson, activity and craft.  The topic: worms. It will begin at 10 a.m. A state park pass is required.
