March 27: School Spirit

Rah! Remember homecoming, football and basketball games and band concerts? Cherished traditions in Minnehaha County-area schools will be shared in a new exhibit at the Old Courthouse Museum, 200 W. Sixth St. The opening reception will be from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday. Whether your school was large or small, come enjoy more than a century of memories. Admission is free.

March 27-29: It’s a birthday

How quickly a year goes by! Real Deals, 2001 W. 41st St., will celebrate its first birthday in Sioux Falls from Thursday to Saturday. The first 20 customers on all three days will receive an exclusive offer, plus the boutique is offering 20 percent off your favorite item. On Friday, birthday cake will be served from noon to 2 p.m. On Saturday, a pop-up event will feature permanent jewelry.

Friday-April 19: Hippety-hop

The Easter Bunny will visit with families as part of the Bunny Photo Experience at The Empire Mall, arriving Friday and hopping away after April 19. It will be open daily, and reservations are encouraged. For daily Bunny Photo hours and to make reservations, click here.

The Empire Mall will also host events with the Easter Bunny  including:

  • Caring Bunny – This is a private event for children with special needs and their families. Special care is taken to ensure a sensory-friendly environment. Reservations are required for 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. April 6.
  • Pet Photos – Bring your furry friend to pose with the Easter Bunny! Make a reservation for 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Sunday.

March 29: Live Inspired gala

The nonprofit Live Inspired 365 will host its only fundraiser for the year at 5 p.m. Saturday at The Country Club of Sioux Falls, 3400 W. 22nd St. Put on something colorful or sparkly for an “Inspiring Night,” designed to spark conversations about mental health. Gift cards from various merchants will be the prizes in the To Bee or Not to Bee game. Tickets are available here.

March 30: Blues Revue & Jam

Shake off the March blahs with a Blue Revue & Jam beginning at 5 p.m. Sunday at Club David, 214 W. 10th St. The Jesse Christen Band — with Rueben Rodriguez on bass, Daniel Heier on drums, Derek Snow as vocalist and Christen on guitar — will perform. Themed food will be served, including a BBQ rib plate with cornbread, coleslaw and banana pudding. Signature cocktails will be mixed up.

April 1: A solo Hegg

Musician Jeremy Hegg will appear solo on stage, singing and playing the house baby grand piano, Tuesday at Trio Jazz Club, 340 S. Main Ave. The music will begin at 6:30 p.m. Hegg teaches at Augustana University and received the first Outstanding Alumni Musical Achievement Award from its school of music. Purchase tickets here.
