Time to save: From live trees to holiday decor, don’t miss these values

Christmas just came early if you’re a bit behind when it comes to decking the halls – because you’re about to snag some exceptional seasonal savings.
Landscape Garden Centers is down to its final 10 days open for the season, and all holiday decor, including live trees, is 75 percent off.
“Now is the time to shop,” garden center manager Laura Kalfs said. “We have a great selection remaining. We had a big, big response this past weekend, and we know the days ahead are going to be busy too.”

It’s all marked down – from the selection of live trees, wreaths and garland to seasonal containers, artificial trees and Christmas decor.
“We’ve still got a great variety in the greenhouse with spruce tips and greens, glittered pinecones, picks and berries and all the additional fun decor,” Kalfs said.

Landscape Garden Centers also has been busy helping homeowners and businesses deck the halls through its lighting and decor servicing.

“Our schedule is pretty full, but it doesn’t hurt to call if you still need help,” Kalfs said. “We’ll do our best to accommodate if you haven’t been able to decorate yet and could use our expertise, or we’re happy to visit about what we offer so you can plan for next season.”
Buying fresh
When you purchase a live tree at Landscape Garden Centers, you’ll know it has been freshly cut and is full of moisture, allowing it maximum longevity in your home through the holiday season.
“A lot of retailers will cut them a month or two prior to going into your home, while ours are cut the week before they ship,” Kalfs said. “We take excellent care of them once they arrive, so even if you’re buying late in the season, you know the tree will thrive with the right care at home.”

The greenhouse, now transformed into the “treehouse,” includes unique varieties of trees, from traditional Fraser to Nordmann and Noble firs.
The Landscape Garden Centers team will give your tree a fresh cut before you take it home, but make sure you get it in a tree stand within 30 to 45 minutes, otherwise give it a fresh cut yourself at home.
From there, the key is consistently offering the tree warm water to stay hydrated.
Kalfs suggests avoiding placing trees in south- and west-facing windows if possible.
“If it’s sitting in a sunny window all day or near a heat vent, it’s going to dry out faster,” she said.
“Of course, this isn’t always possible. Regardless of where your tree is in your home or business, make sure you’re monitoring the tree stand water level to ensure it never runs dry. Check on it multiple times per day if possible.”
Landscape Garden Centers also offers a product called Wilt Stop that you can spray on your tree before you bring it home.
“It’s a waxy coating on the needles to prevent moisture loss, especially if you run your home more warm,” Kalfs said.
“And if a live tree isn’t the right fit for you, we have some very high-quality artificial trees still available at fantastic prices. Many of our customers have enjoyed their artificial trees for decades because they’re that well made.”
Just make sure you stop by soon: Dec. 15 will be the last day to shop for the season.

“Because we have such a short time between Thanksgiving and Christmas, we’ve made some adjustments, including offering this sale a little earlier than normal,” Kalfs said. “We’re excited to offer the savings to everyone and then wrap up and allow our staff time to enjoy the holidays.”
