The week ahead: March 13-19
The Week Ahead is our hand-picked event guide to the next seven days in Sioux Falls and slightly beyond. For guaranteed placement or to promote your event ahead of time, email [email protected] about a featured event listing.
March 13-16: Sportsmen’s show
The show for sportsmen – and women – returns to the Sioux Falls Arena and Convention Center from Thursday through Sunday. You’ll learn about resorts, lodges and camps in the Midwest and Canada; see the newest fishing boats, pontoons, tackle and electronics; and be able to tour campers and trailers. Also included are hunting and fishing seminars. On Saturday and Sunday, family fun will include a wildlife adventure center, a live trout fishing pond, guest speakers Tom Nuyhn and Ted Takasaki and a kids fishing workshop. Hours are 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday, noon to 9 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.

March 13: Bingo plus
The District, 4521 W. Empire Place, will host Not Your Granny’s Bingo at 6 p.m. Thursday. It will include a nontraditional game of bingo with a party DJ, confetti, drinks and challenges. Prepare to sing along! You can get your tickets here. It’s for those 21 and older.

March 15: St. Patrick’s Day Parade
Get your green on! The 45th annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade starts at 2 p.m. Saturday in downtown Sioux Falls. It will run on Phillips Avenue from 13th to Fifth streets. If you’re wondering about parking, Phillips will close to vehicle traffic late Saturday morning, with streets adjacent to the parade route closed at 1:30 p.m. Keep that in mind when you head to the painting of the shamrock at 11 a.m. on Phillips between Ninth and 10th streets in front of The First National Bank in Sioux Falls.

March 15: Spirit Lake quartet
Paper Moon, a quartet from Spirit Lake, Iowa, will perform Saturday at Trio Jazz Club, 340 S. Main Ave. Two shows are planned: from 6:30 to 8 p.m. and from 9 to 10:30 p.m. Click here for tickets.

March 17: St. Pat’s celebration
Feel like doing something Irish-y on the actual St. Patrick’s Day? The Old Courthouse Museum, 200 W. Sixth St., will host a celebration of traditional Irish music from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday. Live music will be provided from Maggie in the Meantime and Dakota District Pipes & Drums. Admission is free. Food and drinks will be on sale – cash only. The event is partially sponsored by the South Dakota Arts Council and A Taste of Country Catering.

March 18: Make beautiful money
SuFu Creative, 218 W. 13th St., will help you prettify your money from 1 to 6 p.m. Tuesday. Drop in, and turn your dollar bills into origami, using a variety of folds. It’s BYOM – bring your own money – or you can use the paper SuFu supplies instead.
