Use them while you can: Sioux Falls Parks & Recreation has opened its six free-to-use outdoor ice rinks for the 2025 season.

These rinks are located in various city parks and will be open daily from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. when weather permits.

“Our team closely watches the weather for the right conditions for ice rinks so residents can enjoy the free outdoor ice rinks,” said Josh Johnson, operations manager for Parks & Recreation. “Ice-skating is a great way to stay active and have fun during the winter months, so have fun.”

Sioux Falls outdoor ice rink locations are:

  • Campus Park, 1700 S. Summit Ave.
  • Frank Olson Park, 4001 E. 16th St.
  • McKennan Park, 400 E. 26th St.
  • Memorial Park, 7500 W. 26th St.
  • Sherman Park, 2705 W. 12th St.
  • Tuthill Park, 3500 S. Cliff Ave.

Warming houses with free skate checkouts will be available at Memorial, Tuthill and McKennan parks. These warming houses will operate from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and 1 to 8 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, weather permitting. The warming houses at Campus, Sherman and Frank Olson parks have limited availability, so bring your own skates.

Hockey is permitted at all rinks, except for Sherman and Memorial, where it must be played within designated areas. At the other four rinks, hockey is dependent on the number of recreational skaters present.

Sioux Falls Parks & Recreation aims to keep all outdoor rinks open until Presidents Day.
