The week ahead: June 19-25
The Week Ahead is our hand-picked event guide to the next seven days in Sioux Falls and slightly beyond. For guaranteed placement or to promote your event ahead of time, email [email protected] about a featured event listing.
June 20: Summer Solstice
The Good Earth Farm, 28318 466th Ave., just south of Lennox, will host The Farm After Dark: Summer Solstice from 9 to 11 p.m. Friday. The solstice is a time to celebrate summer and the season’s turning point. Floating luminaries will send out messages to loved ones or establish your intentions for the next six months. Tickets are $100 per couple and include a bottle of wine or equivalent drinks, a gourmet s’mores package, citronella candles and two luminaries. They’re available here.

June 21: Teapot Days
It’s Teapot Days in — where else — Tea. The Mighty Thomas Carnival will be open Thursday through Saturday, and the main events will happen Saturday. Activities include a parade at 10 a.m., a bean bag tournament, a beer garden and free music in the park. For the full schedule, click here.

June 21: Indoor/outdoor market
While you’re on your way to Tea, stop by the Indoor and Outdoor Flea Market at Tesa’s Cottage from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. Multiple vendors will have treasures on display at the business at 47059 98th St., which is on the northeast corner of the Tea exit.

June 21: Juneteenth
The Juneteenth celebration in Sioux Falls will honor the end of slavery and African American heritage. This year, the event will begin at 11 a.m. at 212 E. 11th St., off Second Avenue. Activities will include music, food and fellowship.

June 11: Second Saturday
The Second Saturday Market returns to the 8th & Railroad Center in downtown Sioux Falls from 6:30 to 10 p.m. Saturday. It’s even bigger than last time with more vendors, live music, food trucks, drinks, games and some surprises.

June 22: Paddling Fair
Sioux Falls Parks & Recreation will host a Paddling Fair at Family Park, 300 N. Ellis Road, for those who want to try out the sport of paddling. Kayaks will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Boats, paddles, life jackets and on-water guidance will be provided. Registration is not required. It will run from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday.

June 24: Glow in the dark
Here’s another Parks & Rec event involving water. The first glow-in-the-dark free swim will be 8 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Frank Olson Pool, 4101 E. 16th St. Glow-in-the-dark bracelets and necklaces will be provided. Participants younger than 7 must have an adult with them. No registration is required. If you can’t make it Tuesday, it will happen again July 29.

June 25: Yoga on the Water
For a one-of-a-kind outdoor yoga experience, head to the riverfront lawn at the Hilton Garden Inn in downtown Sioux Falls. SISU Fit instructors will lead the class. The Wednesday night series runs from 5:30 to 6 p.m. through Aug. 6. This Wednesday’s theme is Power Down, Wine Up. Bring a yoga mat and water bottle. Admission is a suggested donation of $5, which will benefit YMCA Leif Ericson Day Camp.
