South Dakota makes top 10 for girls’ night out
Bet you didn’t see this one coming: South Dakota is one of the best states in the nation for a girls’ night out.
That’s according to new study from online retailer Nasty Gal, which used cost-of-living data to find the average cost of a cocktail, transportation, a fast-food meal, a bottle of wine and a party dress.
The study then used data from Tripadvisor to analyze the number of bars and clubs per 1,000 people in each state, along with the number of five-star-rated venues. The study also factored in the safety of each state before scoring each location a total score out of 100.

Wisconsin came in first with the cheapest cocktails and most five-star bars and clubs per 1,000 people. Drinks there averaged $7.30 for a cocktail, compared with about $15 in California, for instance.
But South Dakota didn’t fare too shabby either.
The state ranked No. 8 overall, one behind Minnesota, with a $10 average cocktail, $12 average price of a bottle of wine and $40.29 for a dress. The safety score was 45.29 out of 100 — the worst out of the top 10 states.
