How to eat gluten-free in downtown Sioux Falls
It’s possible to dine and drink in downtown Sioux Falls gluten-free — just ask a woman who has structured a whole tour around it.
Sioux Falls Food Tours hosts its first gluten-free food tour this weekend. It’s part of a series of specialty tours done on the fifth Saturday of the month.
Owner Dana Wohlwend said she wanted to provide something exclusively for those who want or need to eat completely gluten-free.Â
âDietary needs are always considered when I do a food tour, but this will be exclusively catered to a gluten-free diet,â she said.
What does that look like?
The tour will begin with a hard seltzer from Covert Artisan Ales & Cellars.
From there, it’s on to gluten-free dishes from Swamp Daddyâs Cajun Kitchen and Ode to Food and Drinks.
Then there’s a gluten-free pizza from Papa Woodyâs Wood Fired Pizza and even a gluten-free dessert at Prairie Cocoa & Confections.
Wohlwend said she went through a long process of searching Facebook groups to find restaurants that make gluten-free options a priority on their menus.
âSince I don’t eat gluten-free everywhere, I just wanted to get some input from others who do,â she said. âI think Iâve made a really great list.â
Wohlwend said she hopes the tour helps people understand the prevalence of great gluten-free options in Sioux Falls, especially downtown.
âI know I can do gluten-free (anywhere), but I also want to make sure that they’re getting the absolute best gluten-free options.”
There are two spots left in the gluten-free food tour this weekend, which will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday. Click here to learn more.
