Sioux Falls to host U.S. Olympic trials in curling
Sioux Falls has been chosen to host the 2025 U.S. Olympic team trials for curling.
The Sioux Falls Sports Authority announced today that the Denny Sanford Premier Center will host the U.S. Olympic Team Curling Trials for men and women and the U.S. Paralympic Team Curling Trials for wheelchair mixed doubles Nov. 7-16, 2025.
The trials will feature practice rounds, round robin play and a final playoff. The winners will represent Team USA at the 2026 Milano-Cortina Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games in Italy.

“The people of Sioux Falls have a proven track record of turning out for major sporting events and entertainment, and we’re thrilled to bring an Olympic trials here,” Thomas Lee, president of the Sioux Falls Sports Authority, said in a statement. “We know people will love the Denny Sanford Premier Center, but we also can’t wait to show visitors from around the country everything else our city has to offer.”
Established in 2006, the Sioux Falls Sports Authority has played host to The Summit League Basketball Championships, more than a dozen NCAA Division I and Division II and NAIA championships, the annual Sioux Falls Marathon and Sioux Falls Boxing Classic.
This will mark the first time South Dakota has hosted an Olympic trials event. The next-closest site appears to have been Omaha, which hosted the U.S. Olympic Team Swimming Trials for 16 years but is not hosting it this year. Omaha also hosted the curling Olympic trials in 2021 for the 2022 Olympics.

“The city of Sioux Falls will be a great partner as we promote these Olympic trials, and we are confident the setting will produce a first-class experience for competitors and fans alike,” said Dean Gemmell, CEO of USA Curling. “We will also work closely with the members of the Sioux Falls Curling Club to not only deliver a great event but help fuel their drive towards a dedicated ice facility.”
Curling interest has grown significantly in Sioux Falls in the past decade with the establishment of the Sioux Falls Curling Club, said its president, Dustin Hansen. The club promotes and introduces the sport to the Sioux Falls area.
“We are elated to see our city selected to host this prestigious event,” Hansen said. “This will showcase the growing interest in curling within our community and provide an incredible opportunity to inspire the next generation of curlers. We’re eager to welcome athletes, fans and enthusiasts alike to experience the excitement of curling in Sioux Falls.”
Ticket information for the U.S. Olympic Team Curling Trials for men and women, and the U.S. Paralympic Team Curling Trials for wheelchair mixed doubles will be announced at a late time.
