Road Report: Oct. 10, 2022
Construction season is here, so we’re back with our weekly look at what projects are done, where you’ll find traffic impacts and what’s scheduled next.
What’s underway
Cliff Avenue: Cliff Avenue has seen a lot of work done on it this year. There is still one project under construction on Cliff Avenue between 11th and 26th streets.

Crews are performing concrete and accessible curb ramp repairs this fall ahead of an asphalt overlay on this segment of Cliff Avenue next spring. This year’s work is expected to be complete in the next week or two.
Minnesota Avenue: A project on Minnesota Avenue not receiving very much attention this year is an accessible curb ramp and sidewalk repair project between 33rd and 41st streets. Work began in late June on the east side of the street.
Work is now complete on the east side of the street, and crews are finishing work on the west side of the street between 33rd and 37th streets.

Work will shift to the west side of Minnesota between 37th and 41st streets. All work should be complete by late October or early November.

The project on Minnesota Avenue between Russell and Second streets had its last major concrete pour this week.

All lanes will be open to traffic later this fall. Work in the median will be finished up in early 2023.

Arrowhead Parkway: Arrowhead Parkway between Six Mile Road and Willow Run is expected to reopen to one lane of traffic in each direction by the end of this week. The last major concrete pour for this project in 2022 was Friday.

There will be one more closure on Arrowhead Parkway between Veterans Parkway and Six Mile Road for about one week later this fall. All work on this project won’t be complete until the summer of 2023.

What’s next
Minnesota Avenue: Beginning today, traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction on Minnesota Avenue at Ralph Rogers Road to allow the contractor to complete a storm sewer repair. This work is expected to be complete in a few days.
Sixth Street: Beginning today, the outside eastbound lane on Sixth Street will be closed at Cleveland Avenue to allow contractors to perform underground utility work. This work is expected to be complete in approximately one month.
Russell Street: Beginning today, the north two westbound lanes and the south two eastbound lanes on Russell Street will be closed between Kiwanis and Louise avenues to allow construction crews to perform bridge repairs. This work is expected to be complete in about three weeks.
85th Street: Beginning today, the outside westbound lane on 85th Street will be closed between Beal Avenue and Hansen Place to allow construction crews to install a noise wall. This work is expected to be complete in about one week.
Louise Avenue: Beginning Tuesday, Louise Avenue will be reduced to one lane, south of Mulberry Street to allow MidAmerican Energy to retire a gas service line. A stop sign will be set up to alternate traffic through the closure. This work is expected to be complete by the end of the day.
