Levitt announces schedule of 50 free concerts
New Hip-Hop and Indie Vibe series will be part of the 50-concert season announced today by Levitt at the Falls.
Concerts will start June 2 at the Levitt Shell in Falls Park West and conclude Sept. 9. The 2023 season, sponsored by Sanford Health, will consist of local, regional and national professional artists as part of 10 musical series: Americana, Blues, Country, Hip-Hop, Homegrown, Indie Vibe, Rock & Roll, Women of Song, World Music and Family.

“Levitt at the Falls is thrilled to share our 50-concert lineup with the Sioux Falls community. This summer, we’re celebrating our fifth season with an updated genre list including a new Hip-Hop and Indie Vibe series filled with dynamic musicians bringing fresh talent to the Levitt stage,” Nancy Halverson, executive director of Levitt at the Falls, said in a statement.
“We are collaborating on community cultural festivals and expanding our outreach and opening-act programming. There is much to celebrate and something for everyone to take part in during this much-anticipated 2023 summer season.”
Levitt concerts will be each Thursday, Friday and Saturday night of the summer with music starting at 7 p.m. Levitt events will include opening acts as well as headlining bands, a variety of food vendors and drinks available through JJ’s Wine & Spirits.

Each concert will be livestreamed online and projected on the large video board on-site in partnership with South Dakota Public Broadcasting. Additionally, Family Series performances for kids and youth groups will be held on five Saturday mornings throughout the summer with music starting at 10:30 a.m.
Opening night June 2 will feature acclaimed blues saxophonist and vocalist Vanessa Collier. Closing night on Saturday, Sept. 9, will feature Celtic rock favorites the Young Dubliners. Other concert highlights include international artists Pascuala Ilabaca and Doolin’, South Dakota Rock & Roll Hall of Famers Indigenous, hip-hop artists Cocoa Sarai and Mato Wayuhi, a special Fourh of July performance by the U.S. Army Band’s Six-String Soldiers and Grammy-nominated mother-and-son artists Nnenna and Pierce Freelon.
“The Levitt is one of the absolute gems of Sioux Falls, and Sanford Health is once again incredibly proud to be the season presenting sponsor for Levitt at the Falls,” said Stacy Wrightsman, community relations at Sanford Health. “Seeing families and friends come together to enjoy night after night of music and entertainment brings a smile to my face and further cements our belief that the investment we make in the Levitt is a true reflection of Sanford Health’s continued commitment to positively impacting the health and wellness of all those who live in our community and our entire region. There are so many reasons to be excited for this year’s concert season, and we can’t wait to celebrate with all of you!”
The Levitt at the Falls 2023 season will feature new and familiar special events to help celebrate the summer with food, music, family and fun. This year, the Levitt has partnered with the LSS Multi-Cultural Center to host the annual Festival of Cultures, a partnership with the All My Relatives Music Festival in collaboration with the Wokini Initiative of SDSU and partnerships with the Juneteenth Festival and Kunama Community Festival.
