Free TV, SD-WAN, Mobile: What’s new and next at Midco
This piece is sponsored by Midco.
For the product team at Midco, every day brings a different experience but revolves around the same question: What products will best satisfy customers?
“We get the really fun job of thinking about what people actually need and want – and then we get to bring it to life,” said Emma Fox, vice president of product management.
“We spend a lot of time thinking about how we can serve customers and build what they’re looking for. We like to do things they weren’t expecting but then realize they will appreciate.”
For customers, that means products like free TV, business internet prioritization, apartment Wi-Fi amenities and the all new Midco Mobile.
MidcoStream
TV – for free? It really is that simple. No catch. If you’re a Midco internet customer with a television, you can add MidcoStream to your plan for free.
“You can stream more than 200 ad-supported channels for free, including many of your favorites,” Fox said. “It’s a cable-esque experience without the cost.”

MidcoStream does not include local channels or your favorite sports teams – but you can add those easily when they’re in season or if you feel like having more options.
“In the meantime, you stay connected for free and keep video in your home to flex up or down,” Fox said. “And with our evolved user interface, discovery becomes easier throughout your TV experience.”
Can’t remember which streaming service the show you want to watch is on? It’s easy to find.
“Everything is in one place – your linear TV channels and your streaming services – and they’re easily searchable,” Fox said. “And you’ll get recommendations based on your preferences to help you discover more content you’ll love.”
SD-WAN
Businesses are loving one of Midco’s newest offerings: SD-WAN, which stands for software-defined wide-area networking.
“It offers site-to-site connectivity,” Fox explained. “Let’s say you own multiple coffee shops. You can connect them all and send information between them without that information going over the internet.”
The network also allows application-level prioritization.
That same coffee shop can prioritize internet service for its point-of-sale system and digital menu boards, while ensuring customers sitting and streaming in the store won’t cause the network to lag.

“It also offers advanced security features,” Fox said. “You can block all traffic from a given contract with a next-generation firewall and choose to add a fail over, so if your internet cuts out, it switches to a cellular network to keep your prioritized applications online. It ensures that your phone or point of sale always work.”
Businesses that have tried SD-WAN since the launch earlier this year “are responding really positively,” Fox said. “It’s very powerful and adapts to their needs.”
Community Wi-Fi
Apartment owners, managers and residents: This is for you.
Midco offers a new Community Wi-Fi product designed to provide the ultimate convenience and connectivity for property managers and residents.

“It allows you to move in and connect on day one,” Fox said. “By creating a property-wide network, the property negotiates a more favorable rate, so it’s a win-win for both owners and residents.”
Not only does the approach provide internet service to every apartment — and common areas such as clubhouses if managers choose — but it also optimizes Wi-Fi in every apartment.
What does that mean? Your neighbor’s internet use won’t “jam out” yours.
“It’s a fair system so everyone has enough bandwidth to do what they need to do,” Fox said.
“You can still upgrade as a tenant if you choose more speed, plus get all the benefits of Midco Wi-Fi – an app with the ability to set network passwords and parental controls. The difference is you’re automatically signed up, and the property can offer it as a convenient amenity.”
New for businesses: Midco Business Texting and Midco Business Connect
Midco continually finds new and valuable ways to serve business customers, and two new tools are just starting to launch.
“We’ve seen businesses with a need for more communication-based connectivity,” Fox said. “We’re introducing new ways for businesses to talk to their customers.”
Midco Business Texting will offer business clients a way to text their customers with a range of features intended for everything from marketing to reminders.

“Most importantly, it will come from a Sioux Falls – or local – phone number,” Fox said. “A lot of texting comes from a random number that looks like spam, and this will reinforce you’re hearing from a local business.”
Another new offering, Midco Business Connect, will allow businesses to incorporate phone functionality with their Microsoft Teams.
“You can take and make calls from your laptop with a local number using Teams,” Fox said. “We’ll equip you with a local phone number that integrates into the platform, so you no longer need a physical phone to operate with a business number.”
Coming soon: Midco Mobile
Midco’s product lineup is about to take a leap forward with the launch of Midco Mobile in 2026.
Imagine one local provider that can handle all your tech needs – from home internet to streaming TV and now mobile service. Midco is about to deliver it.
“We will start off by offering this to our team members and their families and then will soft launch early next year,” Fox said.
“Midco Mobile is going to be super-straightforward, easy to understand and trustworthy. And it’s going to be affordable.”
Ready to move away from your complex family plan? This will be a fantastic fit for you.
“This is one flat rate that doesn’t require you to have several people on the plan to get value,” Fox said. “If you’re a one- or two-person household, this is going to be an especially great fit. But it’s also great for those who want to call one place for any connectivity problem and know you’ll receive service from someone locally. I’m excited to see customers begin to experience it.”
Looking forward, there’s plenty to anticipate with product enhancements continually in development.
“We’re confident about the new products we’re launching,” Fox said. “We’ve brought a lot of new things out recently, so I want to see how customers respond and determine from there how we should evolve the products we have to keep serving their needs. My goal is to go from big launches to feature launches that are making our products even more valuable.”
