Construction season is winding down. Here’s our weekly look at what projects are done, where you’ll find traffic impacts and what’s scheduled next as long as the weather holds.

What’s underway

Sixth Street: Concrete paving is in progress on Sixth Street between Foss Avenue and Veterans Parkway.

Mainline concrete paving is expected to be complete this year, and crews will return in the spring to complete sidewalks, landscaping, street lighting and traffic signals.

I:229 & Cliff: The South Dakota Department of Transportation is making progress on the construction of a temporary bridge at the Cliff Avenue and Interstate 229 interchange.

The temporary bridge recently was pushed over Cliff Avenue, and crews are working on completing construction this fall.

Additional work happening includes temporary widening of I-229, median crossover construction, asphalt paving up to the temporary bridge, guardrails and new signage.

This bridge will help maintain traffic during the reconstruction of this interchange in 2025-26.

Minnesota Avenue: The northbound shoulder on Minnesota Avenue closed between 69th and 85th streets Oct. 31 to allow crews to perform sidewalk improvements. Right-turn lanes within the closure area also will be closed during this work. This work is expected to be complete in about two weeks.

What’s next

I:229 & Rice: Beginning today, the Interstate 229 southbound off-ramp at Rice Street will be closed to allow crews to perform pavement repairs. Southbound traffic on I-229 should use the 10th Street exit as a detour route. This work is expected to be complete in about two days.

Phillips Avenue: Beginning on Tuesday, the southbound lane on Phillips Avenue will be closed intermittently between Falls Park Drive and Secnd Street to allow crews to perform sidewalk repairs. Southbound traffic will be flagged around the work area as necessary. This work is expected to be complete in about three days.
