Construction season is here and so is our weekly look at what projects are done, where you’ll find traffic impacts and what’s scheduled next.

What’s done

57th Street: The asphalt overlay on 57th Street between Louise and Oxbow avenues is complete and open to traffic!

Pavement striping will occur within the next few weeks outside of peak traffic hours; however, traffic delays should be expected while crews are applying the pavement markings.

What’s underway

I-229 & Benson: Work at the Benson Road/Interstate 229 interchange is nearing completion! Concrete paving is complete along Benson and nearing completion on the interstate ramps.

The northbound off-ramp from I-229 to Benson is expected to reopen to traffic later this week or next week.

Other work occurring includes traffic signal installation, restoration/landscaping and construction of the channelizing islands.

The interchange is expected to be fully open in the diverging diamond configuration in mid-to-late October and will feature the city’s first triple left turn lane from northbound I-229 onto westbound Benson Road.

31st Street: Work is underway to reconstruct one block of 31st Street between Minnesota and Spring avenues.

Work includes replacement of a sanitary sewer manhole, storm drainage pipe installation, construction of a detention basin on a city-owned lot along Spring Avenue, accessible curb ramp improvements, new sidewalk and curb and gutter, asphalt paving and regrading of an alley.

Work is expected to be complete later this fall.

Minnesota Avenue: The outside southbound lane on Minnesota Avenue closed between 77th and 81st streets Sept. 25 to allow crews to repair a driveway approach. This work is expected to be complete in about two weeks.

I-90: The Interstate 90 eastbound Exit 379 on- and off-ramps at Humboldt closed Sept. 28 to allow crews to perform concrete paving. This work is expected to be complete in about one week.
