A call to connect, contribute, celebrate: Go Give O’G Day of Giving
This event listing is sponsored by Bishop O’Gorman Catholic Schools.
May 1 is the annual Go Give O’G Day of Giving — a special day that calls alumni of O’Gorman High School and Cathedral High School to come together and make a lasting impact on the future of Catholic education.
The funds raised during Go Give O’G Day of Giving play a crucial role in supporting tuition assistance.

Father Mike Kelly, a retired priest of the Sioux Falls Catholic Diocese, reflects on the importance of this event and its deep roots within the O’Gorman community. With a rich history at O’Gorman, Kelly’s connection spans from his time as a coach in varsity wrestling and freshman football to his role as a teacher and chaplain.

Now retired, Kelly remains an active presence in the community, spending much of his time supporting the school’s athletic and other extracurricular activities.
“Thank you for your presence, your donations and who you are,” Kelly said in a heartfelt message to all who contribute. “It’s inspiring to see the way you all come together to support this mission.”

As Kelly highlights that the day is about building community and connection, he stresses the importance of asking for support. “People have a right to be asked for money,” he recalls Father Al Krzyzopolski telling him early in his priesthood. This idea reinforces the belief that when people are asked, they feel a part of something significant and meaningful and can choose for themselves if they wish to contribute.
In the spirit of those teachings, Kelly’s message is clear: We are called to be stewards, not only of our resources but also of each other. “Life is good, and you are happy. Life is better when others are happy because of you,” Kelly quotes Pope Francis, reminding everyone that our actions — whether through financial gifts or other forms of support — bring joy and glory to God.

The day itself is a celebration of the entire Bishop O’Gorman Catholic Schools system. As Go Give O’G Day of Giving approaches, the community is invited to reflect on what it means to be a part of this vibrant system. They share videos, comments and voiceovers that flood our social media and website. It’s a day to connect, to contribute and to celebrate the ongoing success of Bishop O’Gorman Catholic Schools. A donation, whether big or small, plays a role in supporting the future of Catholic education and the legacy of excellence that defines O’Gorman.
