June 10: Behind the Scenes Tour of the Old Courthouse Museum

Learn more about the historic Old Courthouse Museum in downtown Sioux Falls with a behind-the-scenes tour. During the tour, which will take you to places that regular museum entry does not allow, you’ll learn about the construction process of the Old Courthouse and the history of its use as a courthouse. The tour will take place from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Friday; space is limited. Registration for the tour costs $5, and you can register by calling 605-367-4210.

June 11: Downtown Sioux Falls Brunch Boutique Crawl

Grab some friends, and get ready to shop with the Downtown Sioux Falls Brunch Boutique Crawl. Each participating boutique, which includes Chelsea’s, MK Threads and more, will offer discounts, sales and giveaways, as well as brunch. Pick up a card from any participating boutique, and get it stamped each time you make a purchase. The boutique crawl will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. June 11: Junk Fest at the Nest

The 12th annual Spring Junk Fest at the Nest will take place Saturday. Junk Fest at the Nest is a vendor fair that occurs twice a year and features local makers. This year, artists such as Davis Ironworks and The Shoppe will be selling items like pillows and nightstands, and other treasures such as original artwork and lawn decor also will be sold. The market will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 3720 S. Riverbluff Road, east of Sioux Falls along 41st Street.

June 11: Festival of Cultures

The 25th annual Festival of Cultures organized by the Multi-Cultural Center of Sioux Falls is Saturday at Falls Park. Stroll through local vendor booths, participate in interactive workshops to learn cultural traditions and skills, taste a variety of foods from around the world from local food trucks and enjoy entertainment. The event is from noon to 5 p.m., and admission is free. To see the schedule of events, participating vendors and suggestions for parking, click here. 

June 12: Paddle Fair

If you’ve ever thought about trying kayaking, Sunday is a great day to do it. Sioux Falls Parks and Recreation along with Nyberg’s Ace, the South Dakota Canoe & Kayak Association, King Kayak Rentals and Sioux Empire Paddlers are offering boats, paddles, lifejackets and on-water guidance for free. The event is first-come, first-served, suitable for all ages and will take place at Family Park from 1 to 4 p.m.

June 14: Dive-In Movie

With the return of summer comes the return of Dive-In Movies at Laurel Oak Family Aquatic Center. On Tuesday, the movie being screened at the “swimming cinema” will be “Moana.” The movie is free to attend, but if you’d like to be in the water to watch, you will need an air mattress — other seating is available on the deck. Games will begin at 8 p.m. and the movie will start at 9 p.m. Laurel Oak Family Aquatic Center is at 3401 E. 49th St.
