City opens leaf, branch drop-off site
Just in time for spring cleanup: Sioux Falls has opened a leaf and branch drop-off site.
It’s on North Lyon Boulevard, just south of the fairgrounds. Access is available from 12th or Madison streets.

Hours of operation are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. The drop-off site will be open through May 28.
The cost is free for cars, pickups, full-size SUVs, vans or two-wheel trailers. Lawn service companies and commercial businesses can’t use the temporary drop-off site and must go directly to the Sioux Falls Regional Sanitary Landfill.

Branches must be placed in a pile separate from leaves. Leaves must be removed from plastic bags. All loads must be tarped or in an enclosed vehicle for transport to the site. Plastic bags, stumps, rubble and household garbage are not accepted.

The leaves deposited at the drop-off site are composted at the landfill through the yard waste program. Residents can pick up compost for free at the landfill year-round.
General information regarding the landfill, including hours of operation, rates and materials accepted, can be found at siouxfalls.org/landfill or by calling 605-367-8162.
