4 new things to eat this week

We cover new restaurant openings literally all the time at our sister site, SiouxFalls.Business, which also means we can dig into the menu so you know what’s in store for you. Here are our four picks to eat this week.

We wanted to spotlight one of the dishes at the new Samurai Tasteas, a Japanese-style steakhouse near 41st and Sertoma that also serves sushi. Here’s the pork loin teppanyaki, which is served on a sizzling plate. The meal comes with soup and salad.

This new burger at Let It Fly, the Big Mike, is named after co-owner Mike Miller, the Mitchell kid who became an NBA star. The half-pound patty is topped with American cheese, truffle aioli, lettuce, tomato, onion and pickle. It’s shown here topped with a couple of fried green tomato slices. And it’s even on special on Mondays for $10, including a side and a soft drink or domestic tap.

The mother-daughter team at Salas Salsas, who plan to start a food truck this year, have created a new condiment. Salsa Macha, which is a Mexican chili oil, originates from Patricia Burbine and Marcella Salas’ home state of Veracruz. It includes roasted seeds, nuts and dried chilis, and they suggest drizzling it on everything from tacos and pizza to avocado toast. Find it at the Sioux Falls Food Co+op.

The Toppers Pizza chain has partnered with fellow Wisconsin-based Chocolate Shoppe Ice Cream Co. to create three flavors of frozen custard. It’s offering Lava Cake, Almost S’mores and Vintage Vanilla. Get them by the pint.
