4 new things to eat this week

Summer salads are popping up everywhere. Granite City Food & Brewery has added the Bruschetta Salad. It has grilled chicken, greens, blue cheese and a tomato-onion relish, tossed in balsamic dressing and served with garlic Parmesan lavosh chips.

Nautical Bowls has a new limited-time bowl it’s calling “sunshine in a cup.” The Strawberry Protein Bowl includes the new strawberry base, coconut, granola, peanut butter, strawberries, birthday cake protein crumbles and a honey drizzle. Customers also can include it in their own creations.

While the new La Playita Mexican Seafood specializes in offerings from the sea, there are meat dishes too. The new lunch menu includes Chilaquiles. Crispy tortilla pieces are covered in red or green sauce. The dish is served with red onion, cheese and sour cream. Our pick is the rojos version with the addition of top sirloin and eggs. Diners also can choose chicken, mahi mahi or shrimp.

Every summer, MacKenzie River Pizza, Grill & Pub pays homage to its roots in Montana with a huckleberry-inspired menu. One of the dessert choices is the Doc Holliday. It’s white chocolate macadamia nut cookies served in a hot skillet with huckleberry ice cream and housemade huckleberry sauce.
