4 new things to eat this week

We cover new restaurant openings literally all the time at our sister site, SiouxFalls.Business, which also means we can dig into the menu so you know what’s in store for you. Here are our four picks to eat this week.

Look’s Marketplace has an expanded weekend breakfast menu. The new Potato Zucchini Summer Hash has lots of fresh vegetables topped with eggs and bacon, then smothered in salsa verde. Breakfast is served from 8 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Here’s another weekend-only pick. Guatelinda Bakery specializes in Guatemalan sweet breads and other baked goods, but there’s a new offering on the weekend. Stop by from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday for a shuco, or Guatemalan hot dog, cooked up on a grill on the sidewalk in front of the bakery at 919 E. Eighth St. This is no ordinary hot dog though. It’s also loaded with carne asada, bacon, chorizo and longaniza — a type of sausage. Condiments include a chimichurri-like sauce, ketchup, mustard, mayo and guacamole. It’s on toasted bread made, of course, by the bakery. Customers can customize their order. The shuco is $12, but it’s a big sandwich.

La Cantina Mexican Restaurant opened this week at Dawley Farm Village. The menu is extensive, but here’s our pick: El Toro. It has a grilled chicken breast and shrimp with fresh jalapeno slices covered with melted cheese. It’s served with rice, beans and tortillas.

Start off a night out for cocktails at The Treasury with the new Hummus Board. It’s loaded with a bowl of roasted red pepper hummus with dukkah and then garlic naan, sliced carrot and cucumber, feta cheese and Castelvetrano olives for nibbling.
