Tickets remain for popular Christmas at the Cathedral
This paid event listing is sponsored by Christmas at the Cathedral.
Experience the splendor of the holiday season with Christmas at the Cathedral, which has some tickets remaining for this year’s event.
Shows will be Dec. 12-15 at the Cathedral of St. Joseph, 521 N. Duluth Ave.

“This beloved Christmas tradition is truly one-of-a-kind,” said Aryn Hollaren, marketing and communications specialist for the Catholic Community Foundation for Eastern South Dakota.
“This event is a great way to experience the awe and wonder of the Christmas season.”
Guests will enjoy captivating music from talented Nashville-based soloists Shelly Jennings and Christopher Bailey, a professional orchestra directed by Dr. Dan Flanery and a full choir directed by Rachael Kramer.

Moving storytelling featuring actors Andrew and Teresa Henrickson accompanies the beautiful Christmas music.
“All of this takes place inside the breathtaking and historical Cathedral of St. Joseph — one of the region’s most significant civic and sacred landmarks — decorated in full Christmas splendor,” Hollaren said.
This year’s theme, “Go in Peace!” is a firsthand account “of the miraculous events surrounding Jesus’ birth through the experience of Simeon and Anna,” she continued.

“Simeon, who was told that he would not die until he saw the Messiah, and Anna, who prayed night and day in the temple, persevered in faith. Joseph and Mary took their newborn son to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord and to offer sacrifices in the temple. And that is when Simeon and Anna met the Messiah. Simeon took the child Jesus into his arms and blessed God, saying: ‘Now, Master, you may let your servant go in peace … for my eyes have seen your salvation.'” Luke 2:29.
This year marks Flanery’s first Christmas at the Cathedral as music director and conductor of the Christmas at the Cathedral Orchestra. He serves as the president of Bishop Heelan Catholic Schools in Sioux City and has a rich background in choral music, including a doctorate in musical arts and a master’s in choral conducting.

“Tickets are selling quickly,” Hollaren said.
“We are already sold out of our Saturday and Sunday matinee performances, but there are still plenty of tickets available for other performances, particularly for the Thursday and Sunday evening performances. We recommend you act quickly to secure your spot at your preferred performance.”
Proceeds from Christmas at the Cathedral go to endowments for the ongoing care and maintenance of two “beacons of hope” in the community: the Bishop Dudley Hospitality House and the Cathedral of St. Joseph.

Tickets are available online at ccfesd.org/christmas-at-the-cathedral, by calling 605-988-3765 or at all Sioux Falls Hy-Vee locations.
Can’t join in person? You’ll still have the opportunity to experience this year’s concert through a special television broadcast at 6:30 p.m. Christmas Day on all KELO-TV stations.
