Are you a Sioux Falls resident with opinions about streets, safety and the city’s quality of life? This survey is waiting for your input.

The National Community Survey is offered in Sioux Falls through the Sioux Falls City Council every two years. In recent weeks, 3,000 randomly selected residents were sent postcards about the survey, but anyone can complete it here.

It’s designed to take less than 20 minutes to complete and covers everything from roads and transportation to safety and parks to housing and the cost of living.

If you received a survey invitation in the mail, it is important to complete that version — and access the survey using the URL provided in the mailed materials — rather than responding to the open participation survey link.

The survey will be open to the public through Nov. 10, and results will be shared in December.

Here are a few highlights from the last time the survey was done in 2021:

  • Quality of life: Residents reported a high quality of life in Sioux Falls, with 89 percent rating it as excellent or good.
  • Safety and security: Sioux Falls is perceived largely as a safe city, with 94 percent of respondents feeling safe in their neighborhoods.
  • Housing and affordability: The survey revealed that while 67 percent of respondents rated housing excellent or good, there is still room for improvement.

Survey responses are confidential and designed to be used by city leaders as they make decisions about Sioux Falls’ future.
