The Week Ahead is our hand-picked event guide to the next seven days in Sioux Falls and slightly beyond. For guaranteed placement or to promote your event ahead of time, email [email protected] about a featured event listing.

Sept. 25: Art After Dark

Step into the Washington Pavilion’s Visual Arts Center after hours for the first Art After Dark — a new series that transforms the galleries into a hands-on experience. This isn’t your typical night at the museum. Think curator-led tours, collage-making, a cash bar and conversation all rolled into one. It will begin at 6 p.m. Thursday. Purchase tickets here.

Sept. 25 and beyond: Ghost tours

Seeking to get into the Halloweeen spirit? Then try the hourlong Sioux Falls Ghost Tour: Shadows, Sinister Sins & Scandal. The walking tours start at 8 p.m. outside the Old Courthouse Museum, 200 W. Sixth St., and cover a mile. There’s also the option of an extended tour to additional haunted locations. It’s hosted by US Ghost Adventures with local guides. You can reserve your spot here.

Sept. 27: Homecoming parade

It’s homecoming week at Augustana University, and activities include a parade. The parade route starts at 28th Street and Grange Avenue, proceeds south on Grange to 33rd Street, and then east on 33rd to the Our Savior’s Lutheran Church parking lot. Parking is restricted on the parade route from 6 a.m. until the parade ends.

Sept. 28: Vikings in Dublin

If you want to cheer on the Minnesota Vikings as they face the Steelers this Sunday, you have to get up early. But you have a variety of venues to choose from:

  • Botski’s Bar & Grill, 1914 S. Sycamore Ave. Opens at 7:30 a.m. Regular breakfast menu available, along with an Irish bangers and mash special. Mimosa special and bloody marys available during the game. Free beer when the Vikings score.
  • Blarney Stone Pub, 333 S. Phillips Ave. Opens at 8 a.m. Brunch menu available early. Drink specials and purple beer. Bloody mary and mimosa bars open at 10 a.m.
  • McNally’s Irish Pub, 6211 S. Old Village Place. Opens at 8 a.m. for Kegs ‘n’ Eggs. Breakfast will be served. Specials on mimosas and bloodys.
  • Ken’s Korner, 918 W. Sixth St. Opens at 8 a.m. Doughnuts and biscuits & gravy will be provided. You also can bring your own breakfast contributions.

Sept. 28: Vendors market

The Sioux Falls Sunday Vendors Market will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the First Stop Coffee Shop, 8409 W. 12th St. Pick up your favorite brew at First Stop, then shop the vendors, which typically offer honey, seasonal produce, baked goods, crafts, and CBD and essential oils.

Sept. 28: 437 reception

Be at Fawick Park at 1 p.m. Sunday to celebrate the finish of The 437 Project’s journey across South Dakota. Twelve runners will cross the finish line, connect with team members and enjoy community spirit, conversations, and bites and beverages from local food trucks. A photo booth also will be available. The 437 Project is a four-day run across South Dakota to raise funds and awareness for suicide prevention.

Coming up: Oct. 2

Originally scheduled for this week, the dedication of the newest image on the exterior mural at Sunny’s Pizzeria, 1801 S. Walts Ave., has been moved to 6:30 p.m. Oct. 2. Sprint-car driver Doug Wolfgang and mural artist Wyatt Dickson will be present for the latest addition to the Sioux Falls Wall of Notability. Commemorative trading cards will be available. And, of course, you can purchase pizza and craft beer.
