Oct. 3: Mask-making

Take a blank mask and make it your own at a mask-painting party at 7 p.m. Thursday at Full Circle Book Co-op, 123 W. 10th St. Full Circle will provide blank masks and the materials to make your own designs while you listen to songs and sip refreshments. You can keep what you make or donate it to be displayed on Full Circle’s wall.

Oct. 4: Family fun

Looking for fall fun for the whole family? From 3 to 6 p.m. Friday, the Stockyards Ag Experience, 301 E. Falls Park Drive, will be the site of the Greater Sioux Falls Chamber of Commerce’s seventh annual National Farmer’s Day at the Barn. This event features a pick-and-take pumpkin patch, fun exhibits, treats and the opportunity to learn how agriculture affects everyone. It’s free.

Oct. 4: Art & Wine Walk

Sip wine and have a good time at the October Art & Wine Walk from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday. Hosted by Downtown Sioux Falls Inc., you will walk from one shop to the next, enjoying wine samples and discovering new art at every location with musicians, painters and potters. Phillips Avenue will be closed between Ninth and 10th streets. Viewing the art and meeting the artists is free. A wine-sampling punch card will cost $25, or get wine by the glass for $5.

Oct. 5: Pancakes and a parade

Enjoy pancakes and a parade as Augustana University celebrates Viking Days 2024. Pancakes will be served from 8 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the Halverson Atrium of Fryxell Humanities Center. It’s hosted by the Augustana Advancement Office. The event is free. There also will be a sale of one-of-a-kind items such as charcuterie boards, vases and pens from Augustana’s old maple tree, milled in 2022. Proceeds support student scholarships. The Viking Days parade will begin at 10:30 a.m. at Grange Avenue and University Place — formerly 28th Street — head south on Grange to 33rd Street and end at the Our Savior’s Lutheran parking lot.

Oct. 5: Kids and mountain bikes

Falls Area SingleTrack, a nonprofit organization for mountain bikers, will take part in the Take a Kid Mountain Biking Event on Saturday. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Legacy Park, FAST members will guide kids through fun and safe biking activities for beginners and experienced riders alike. A Strider bike will be given away, and there will be prizes.

Oct. 5: Arts and crafts

Visit the West Sioux Artist Co-op, 2300 W. Madison St., from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday for a day of shopping and celebrating local creativity. At the grand opening, you’ll find unique handmade items from talented local creators. Crafts, food and coffee will be available, and School Bus Inc. will serve a free lunch. Admission is free, and there will be prizes, including a snow blower.

Oct. 5-6: Yoga, yoga, yoga

You’ll have plenty of chances to take a yoga class this weekend. Here are three opportunities:

  • Yoga + Mimosas with Revolution Yoga: The District Lofts, Revolution Yoga & Cycle and 334-RENT will host a yoga session from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Levitt Shell. Bring your mat, then enjoy a mimosa afterward at The District Lofts.
  • Yoga at WoodGrain Brewing Co.: Jeri Light Yoga will lead an hourlong beginner-friendly yoga class followed by a free beer from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at WoodGrain, 101 S. Phillips Ave. Please arrive at least 15 minutes early to ensure you get a spot.
  • Sunday Farm Yoga at The Good Earth Farm: Sarah Lindemulder of Joy Collective Yoga Studio will offer a yoga class at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at The Good Earth Farm, just outside Lennox. Bring your mat, a water bottle and a desire to connect with your body and nature.
