Nov. 26: Art exhibit
Be thankful for art from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday at the “Giving Thanks Art Exhibit” at Serendipity Studio, 230 S. Phillips Ave. It is described as “a reflective exploration of the artists’ personal world, inviting visitors to delve into their own feelings of thanks.” It brings together works that play with themes of the holiday, gratitude or opportunities that acknowledge the positive things, people or circumstances in our lives.

Nov. 27: Day-before party
It’s a Thanks Groovin’ Eve Party from 7 to 10 p.m. Wednesday at The Social, 201 S. Thompson Ave. Expect a night of funky beats and festive fun while you dance the night away with the Funk-UH-Fried band, a funk group from Sioux Falls.

Nov. 29: Parade of Lights
The Parade of Lights has become a family tradition for people who want to kick off the holiday season with festive decorations and strings of lights. The 32nd annual event will begin at 7:30 p.m. Friday, running on Phillips Avenue between 13th and Fifth streets. Awards will be given out in six categories. First Bank & Trust is this year’s presenting sponsor. At 5:45 p.m., enjoy holiday music from The 1270’s at the Washington Pavilion before the 6:25 p.m. lighting of the tree at 11th and Main, followed by cookies and cocoa in the lobby. Also before the parade, you can enjoy the free “Cocoa and Carols” at 6:30 p.m. at The Premier Playhouse, 315 N. Phillips Ave.

Nov. 30: School lunch fundraiser
Remedy Brewing Co., 401 E. Eighth St., will host the Beards for Box Lunches Fundraiser from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday. It will support the Sioux Falls School District Lunch Program and will include a pickleball round-robin tournament and a No-Shave November beard and mustache competition. Registration is $10. Categories for the latter include best in show, parent-and-child twinning, best owner and dog with similar facial hair and three categories for length.

Nov. 30: Charlie Brown Christmas
Put on your best ugly sweater at at 6 p.m. Saturday for a Charlie Brown Christmas presented by The Salvation Army. It takes place at the Denny Sanford Premier Center. The Sioux Falls Stampede will wear special Christmas sweaters to be auctioned off via DASH Auctions. Fans can enter an ugly sweater contest on the Stampede’s social media pages. After the game, fans can skate with the team.

Dec. 1: Tree lighting
First United Methodist Church, 401 S. Spring Ave., will host a lighting ceremony at Dorothy’s Tree of Hope at 6 p.m. Sunday. Christmas carols will be sung. The tree has signaled the arrival of the Christmas season on Minnesota Avenue for more than 30 years.

Dec. 3: Cookie class
One Smart Cookie and Glacial Lakes Distillery & Brewhouse are combining for a class in how to frost cookies with a winter theme. The class includes one drink — additional drinks may be purchased. Pre-registration is required. The class runs from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday.
