Nov. 17: Give a hoot

Interested in owls? Those feathered friends are the topic of the next Kids’ Day at the Old Courthouse Museum, 200 W. Sixth St. Kids can make a craft while learning about owls, with creative learning programs running every 15 minutes. The free session is from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday. Register at 605-367-4210.

Nov. 18: KindnessFirst at Winter Wonderland

First National Bank is hosting its next KindnessFirst event on opening night of the Winter Wonderland at Falls Park. Stop by the Falls Overlook Cafe between 6 and 9 p.m. to get a free hot chocolate, coffee or cider and a scoop of Stensland Family Farms ice cream courtesy of the local bank.

Nov. 17, 19 and 21: Live music and friends

Severance Brewing Co. will host two events in the coming week. Singer Severio Mancieri, a traveling troubadour from Duluth, Minnesota, will perform from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday. On Monday, Severance will host a Friendsgiving with free pizza from 5 to 8 p.m. Severance is in The Cascade at Falls Park, 701 N. Phillips Ave. Mancieri has a second concert in Sioux Falls. He’ll play at Remedy Brewing, 401 E. Eighth St., from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday.

Nov. 18-20: Arts and crafts festival

The 2022 Autumn Festival, An Arts & Crafts Affair, begins Friday and ends Sunday at the Denny Sanford Premier Center. Hundreds of artists and crafters from around the country will display and sell their handcrafted works. The event includes an hourly gift certificate winner, food and drink, family fun and free parking. Hours are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Cost is $9, with a $1 discount for seniors and free for children younger than 10.

Nov. 19: Card show

The Sioux Falls Sports Card Show will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, 909 W. 33rd St. The event is free. It includes new and vintage cards and collectibles. The entrance and parking lot is on the church’s south side. Another card show will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 10.

Nov. 19: Author book signing

More than 20 authors will be on hand at the Old Courthouse Museum from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday for a local author book fair. They  not only will sign books but also answer fans’ questions. All books will be available for purchase in the museum store. The event is free.

Nov. 19: Mobile Rec visit

Sioux Falls Parks & Recreation’s Mobile Recreation Unit will make a stop from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Saturday at the Downtown Plaza along 10th Street, one block east of Phillips Avenue. Activities will include yard games, music and a Thanksgiving craft — just in time for the holiday.

Nov. 20: Holiday brass

The 35-member Sioux Empire Brass Society will present its holiday concert at 4 p.m. Sunday at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 3801 E. 26th St. A freewill offering will be collected. The SEBS includes musicians from Sioux Falls and surrounding communities. Rolyn Beaird is its director.

Looking ahead: Dec. 3

If you’ve been rummaging in your closet for holiday sweaters, you might want to register now for the Ugly Sweater Murder Mystery Party coming up Dec. 3 at the Caille Branch Library. The night of intrigue runs from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Details, including your character, will be emailed in advance. Register at SiouxlandLib.org.
