March 21: Supporting women

March is Women’s History Month, and Severance Brewing Co., 701 N. Phillips Ave., has chosen Selah Space at its give-back organization for the month. Selah Space provides holistic care for women. From 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, $1 per pint sold will be donated to the group. And trivia focusing on women’s health will start at 6 p.m.

March 22: Checkmate

The Sioux Falls City Chess Festival and K-8 City Championship offers free entry for local residents and a $20 fee for all others. Students will play within their own grade, with awards given for each grade. A free lunch will be served, and supporters are providing other gifts. It will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Kenny Anderson Community Center. You’ll find more details and can register here.

March 22: One-year anniversary

Chelsea and Cole DeBoer will celebrate the one-year anniversary of their home decor store, Down Home by DeBoers, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday. The store is at 108 Venture Place, Tea. The celebration will include exclusive deals, drinks, treats and even tiny tattoos.

March 22: Ag Day

Saturday is Ag Day at the Washington Pavilion. The event, which runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the first-, second- and third-floor lobbies, will include various exhibits with piglets, drone and sprayer simulators, an interactive market, book readings, demonstrations and more. The event is free — as is the South Dakota State University ice cream.

March 22: Learn to curl

Learn to curl — on ice, not your hair — when Sioux Falls Curling hosts a learning session at 6 p.m. Saturday at Scheels IcePlex, 4300 N. Bobhalla Drive. Curling can be modified for children or those with physical limitations, and it’s for all ages and fitness levels. If you’re curled before, the club is offering a quick refresher before getting you into a draw. You can purchase your tickets here.
