Nov 16-19: The Lightning Thief

Dakota Academy of Performing Arts will perform “The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical” at 7 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Orpheum Theater Center, 315 N. Phillips Ave. As the half-blood son of a Greek god, Percy Jackson has newly discovered powers he can’t control, a destiny he doesn’t want and a mythology textbook’s worth of monsters on his trail. When Zeus’ master lightning bolt is stolen and Percy becomes the prime subject, he must find and return the bolt to prove his innocence and prevent a war between the gods. Other performances are 8:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2:30 p.m. Saturday. To buy tickets, click here.

Nov. 17: Winter Wonderland

What started as a few strands of lights and a lighted reindeer decoration at Falls Park has grown to the equivalent of more than 23 miles of twinkling light strands and other holiday decorations. The city of Sioux Falls will kick off its 20th annual holiday lights display with fireworks at 6 p.m. Friday. Be sure to swing by the Falls Overlook Cafe for a family photo and a holiday treat of hot cocoa or cider. Explore all winter has to offer at siouxfalls.org/winter-wonderland.

Nov. 17-18: A serious comedy
