May 18: Country Night
Thursdays are Country Night at PaVe. They run from 7 to 11:45 p.m. A live country DJ will spin tracks at 9 p.m. Lori Williams will offer free line-dancing classes at 7 p.m. May 25 and June 1.

May 20: Cars & Coffee
Schulte Suburu, 7601 S. Minnesota Ave., is hosting Cars & Coffee from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday. The event gives the chance to check out some sweet cars, good music, good food and prizes and giveaways. If the weather doesn’t cooperate Saturday, it will be pushed back to the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend.

May 20: Pup Crawl

May 20: Queen Bee Day
Head to Remedy Brewing Co. at 1 p.m. for a patio celebration of Imperial Honey Cream Ale, made with South Dakota honey. A vendor show will be held on the patio at 8th & Railroad Center from 1 to 4 p.m. with live music starting at 6 p.m., plus the introduction of four limited-release versions of Queen Bee.

May 21: Concert series
The Good Earth Summer Concert Series will begin at 4 p.m. Sunday in the amphitheater at Good Earth State Park. Kevin Ryan will perform, and the food truck Cheezy Noodles will be there.

The amphitheater has some permanent seating, but visitors are encouraged to bring chairs or blankets. A park license is required. It is wheelchair accessible. Commonground, an acoustic blend of piano, guitar, percussion,and vocals, from Sioux Falls will perform 4 p.m. May 28.

May 21: Summer painting

May 22: Author presentation
Local business owner Tim Schut was diagnosed with a life-altering disease, Primary Progressive Apraxia of Speech, a few years ago. He has written a book about his experience, “American Boy: The Tim Schut Story.” At 6 p.m. Monday, Schut will give an author presentation at Siouxland Libraries’ Oak View Brand Library, 3700 E. 3rd St. Registration is required. Please note: This location has changed since originally published.

May 23: End-of-the-year party

If the end of the school year has your kids jumping for joy, they literally can jump at this special Air Madness event put on by Harrisburg Liberty Elementary School’s PTO from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. All jumpers pay $13 at check-in for jumping and laser tag. There also will be concessions specials for families. Click here for more information.

May 27: Smudging ceremony
Register now for this event at the Mary Jo Wegner Arboretum, 10 a.m. to noon May 27. Naturalist Andrea Porter and Michael Wanbdi Gdeska (Spotted Eagle) will connect the natural history of the Great Plains with cultural practices. Gdeska, a member of the Ihanktonwan Oyate (Yankton-Sioux) tribe, will share his experience from a Native American perspective in developing a spiritual relationship with all of creation, including the sacred ceremony of Azilya (smudging).
