Aug. 8: Wine tasting

Join iv&co on the first floor of The Bancorp Building at Cherapa Place for a wine-tasting event where luxury meets culinary delight. Six wines will be paired with unique cheeses and fine meats. Cost is $40 per person for the event, which will begin at 5:30 p.m. Thursday in the business at 345 N. Reid Place. Reserve your tickets here.

Aug. 9: County fair art

Ipso Gallery at Fresh Produce, 400 N. Main Ave., will host “White Ribbon,” an exhibition series inspired by the county fair arts pavilion, with a free public reception from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday. “White Ribbon” showcases community-submitted artwork specialized by category, from sensory works and puppets to found items and mystical elements. Before the opening reception, custom ribbons will be awarded based on specific criteria. The show will also host family-friendly activities and a baking contest. The exhibit will remain open until Sept. 20. Ipso Gallery at Fresh Produce is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays, except for holidays.

Aug. 9: Gilbert & Sullivan fundraiser

In the mood for a little comic opera? Want to help others? Then the fundraiser for the Charis Ministry Partners’ Food to You mobile food pantry is for you. Singers from Savoy Theater will perform songs from Gilbert and Sullivan at 7 p.m. Friday at Spirit of Joy Lutheran Church, 2208 W. Laquinta St. The evening will include a silent auction, 50-50 raffle, bake sale and secondhand book sale.

Aug. 10: Bugapalooza

Celebrate the little guys in the world! The Butterfly House & Aquarium will host Bugalapalooza from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at 4320 S. Oxbow Ave. There will be games, crafts and activities aimed at learning about bugs and the essential role they play on Earth. Bugapalooza takes place outside the Butterfly House & Aquarium and does not require admission. But to visit the creatures inside the building, you can get your tickets here.

Aug. 10: Bazaart

More than 15 creative vendors will take part in the third annual Bazaart, hosted by Sunny’s Pizzeria and Prints & Repeat and sponsored by Covert Artisan Ales & Cellars. The outdoor party will include pizza, beer and work from local artists. It will run from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday at Sunny’s, 1801 S. Walts Ave.

Aug. 11: Cat photo session

If you’re a childless cat lady and would like to be photographed with your pets, Kelcey Schroder Photography is hosting a special event from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at West Sioux Studios at 1810 W. 50th St. Not a lady? Not childless? Bring the kids because you’re welcome to book a private 65-minute session too. Cost is $65 with five digital downloads and the option to purchase more. Make your reservation here.

Aug. 11: Parking lot party

JJ’s Billiards & Darts, 309 S. Elmwood Ave., is hosting a Sunday Funday Parking Lot party at noon Sunday. The Rock House Band will perform live music outside along with a beanbag tournament, food, shots and shenanigans, all for your enjoyment. Bring a friend and your chair.

Coming up: Aug. 17

Ransom Church, 700 N. Main Ave., will host Shoes for Shortiez , from 9 a.m. to noon Aug. 17. Invited students from the Sioux Falls School District’s Title I schools will receive a free new pair of tennis shoes. The event also will include music, bubbles, sidewalk chalk, basketball games and an ice cream truck. Ransom Church is seeking donations of shoes and time. Call the church office at 605-339-3733.
