July 18-20: Arts tours

Art is everywhere in Sioux Falls, and you may not know just how prolific it is. Change that when you spend an hour exploring downtown Sioux Falls’ vibrant arts scene during tours offered Thursday, Friday and Saturday through Sioux Falls Community Arts Tours. Cost is $10. Meet at 5 p.m. at the Arc of Dreams. Can’t make it this week? The tours run on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays or by special request.

July 19-21: Shop & Stroll

Downtown Sioux Falls will host the Summer Shop & Stroll on Friday and Saturday — with stores usually open Sundays also extending the sales to that day. Click here for your guide to the deals.

July 20-21: Yoga festival

The inaugural Sioux River Yoga Festival will be Saturday and Sunday at Good Earth Farm, 28318 466th Ave. near Lennox. The event hosted by Joy Collective will offer yoga enthusiasts of all levels immersion in a weekend of yoga, wellness and community. Highlights include workshops on abundance and harmony, freedom through movement and sound healing. Instructors include Sarah Lindemulder, Jackie Paulsen, Jenn Fast and Carmen Ohm. On Sunday, the festival continues with four additional community classes, with all proceeds supporting the Friends of the Big Sioux River, a nonprofit dedicated to the environmental health of the Sioux River watershed. Tickets cost $150 for Saturday and $30 for Sunday.

July 20-21: Pop Culture Con

The 605 Pop Culture Con will take place Saturday and Sunday at the Sioux Falls Convention Center. You’ll find the complete schedule and can purchase tickets here. Actor Rosario Dawson will be present on both days for photo-ops. The event raises funds and awareness for the fight against cancer, with an emphasis on childhood cancer and childhood cancer research. All money from door entry, autographs, photo-ops and musical performances goes toward Voices Against Cancer, a charity supporting assistance for families dealing with pediatric cancer and support for pediatric cancer research.

July 20: Race for veterans

Heather Bormann, who served in the Marine Corps from 2003-07, has established the One Race for Veterans 5K/1 Mile, which will begin at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at Cherry Rock Park. Proceeds will benefit Final Salute Inc. and the Veterans Community Project. Prizes will be awarded for the top two runners in each 5K category. All 5K participants will receive a race medal. You can sign up here.

July 20: Laziest race

JJ’s Wine, Spirits & Cigars and The Compass Center are hosting South Dakota’s Laziest Race at 10 a.m. Saturday. Get ready for a brisk — or not so brisk — 0.5K race where every step forward matters. After going through the course at your own pace, you can cool down with post-race fun. Register for your ticket here.

July 24: Live music

Dan Mahar and Rick Weiland will offer live music from 8 to 10 p.m. Wednesday on the patio at Parker’s Bistro, 210 S. Main Ave. Special guests are Allyson Fordyce, Alex Weiland and Taylor Weiland with Ted Weiland on the upright bass with music from the ’60s, ’70s, and beyond.
