Jan. 29: Date Night Comedy

The annual event returns to Central Church. It sold out last year, so get tickets soon. Ted Cunningham and Mike Goodwin host this comedy event for couples that will leave you laughing, loving and learning through comedy and teaching. It’s $20 per person, and no child care is provided. Jan. 29: Wine & Yoga at Bakker Crossing Golf Course

Beginning at 7 p.m., this one-hour Vinyasa Flow class with Kyla is suitable for all ability levels. Each yogi will receive two drink tickets to use before, during or after class. It’s $15 for GreatLIFE members, $20 for non-members. Email [email protected] to register.

Jan. 30: Meat Raffle at TommyJack’s Pub

This might be the must-do event of the week. TommyJack’s downtown is hosting its popular Meat Raffle at 1 p.m. to raise money for the Children’s Home Society of South Dakota.

Get there early because it fills up fast. Tickets for the first round go on sale at noon.

Each ticket is strategically priced on the low for $1 a piece. Once everyone gets their tickets, the raffle “tumbler” will spin, and they draw a few tickets out. If your ticket is called, BOOM! You just won a rack of ribs for a buck! They repeat and raffle until all the meat is gone. You can buy as many tickets as you want, and all meat is purchased from local butcher shops. Jan. 30: Kids Night Out

Drop off the kids for for two hours of pizza, games and obstacles beginning at 7:30 p.m. at 605 Ninja — Obstacle Training Academy at the Western Mall. It’s $20, which includes pizza and bottled water. You must pre-register, so click here to learn more.

Jan. 30: Comedian Zach Dresch

This homegrown comedian appears at 8 p.m. at Boss’ Comedy Club, 1301 W. Russell St.

He’s a Sioux Falls native who will be joined by Alish Rayne of Huron. Dresch grew up a fan of sketch and stand-up comedy, citing groups like the Kids in the Hall and comedians such as Mitch Hedberg and Demetri Martin as huge influences. He also plays in multiple bands, two of them being the active groups known as the Disarmed and Sharon’s Little Helpers as well as the dueling pianos group Duel Purpose. He is most widely known as the Flu Bug on billboards and TV all across South Dakota. Tickets are $15. To learn more, click here.

Jan. 31: A Winter’s Tale: Small Flames

This enchanting winter interlude of literature and music has been reimagined as a virtual event this year. Dr. Sandra Looney, Augustana University professor of English, will serve as mistress of ceremonies for the event, which features several Augustana alumni. Registration is required. Jan. 31: Winter shuffleboard tournament at Severance Brewing Co.

This seems like a worthy way to spend a Sunday afternoon. From 2 to 5 p.m., eight teams can participate in a double-elimination challenge for $35 per team, which includes two beers per team and the chance to win up to $100.

Jan. 31: Flow – The Secret to Happiness, Peak Performance & Peak State Experience

According to the event organizers, “Flow is defined as an optimal state of consciousness where we feel our best and perform our best.” This two-hour, $35 event at Icon Lounge is for anyone in sports, arts, leadership, business, etc. who is seeking to achieve mastery. In the last hour, you will be guided through a mind-expanding practice of breath work, sound and meditation for accessing deep brain waves states, super-creativity and inner guidance. Before Jan. 31: Make it a downtown duo of events with a visit to one of the two dozen competing Burger Battle restaurants and a final trip to see the lights of Winter Wonderland at Falls Park.

Mark your calendar: The annual Winter Carnival runs Feb. 6-14, featuring events for all ages, including bike races, outdoor workouts, family activities and a wine and whiskey punch pass. The online event Frost: Mask-erade on Feb. 6 will include a silent auction and raffles to benefit kids. Sponsors can “host from home” and invite up to eight guests to attend the virtual event. Hosts receive a gift card for food and beverage, a keepsake charcuterie board and host package with programs and takeaway gifts for guests. Click here to learn more.
