Aug 4: Theme Thursday — Stranger Things
If you’ve been watching “Stranger Things” or love all things ’80s, you’ll want to head to DaDa Gastropub on Thursday. Every week in August, the restaurant is hosting Theme Thursday, where seasonal cocktails will be served and dressing up is encouraged. This week, the theme is Netflix’s “Stranger Things” — or the ’80s. DJ Phil Bjorneberg will be playing all the best hits from the ’80s all night. All ages are welcome. The regular food menu is served until 10 p.m., with the drink menu being served until midnight. Reservations are encouraged but not required.

Aug. 4: Canaries Kids Camp
Got a budding baseball player in the family? Send them to the Canaries Kids Camp on Thursday. The $10 registration fee will include the camp, a ticket to the game that day and lunch. Campers will learn essential baseball skills, get the chance to warm up with the Canaries and spend time with others interested in the sport. Parents also can purchase tickets to watch the camp as well as the game. The camp will begin at 10 a.m. at The Birdcage, and the game will begin at 12:05 p.m. Tickets are available for purchase here.

Aug. 6: Woofstock 2022
Dakota Dachshund Rescue and Remedy Brewing Co. are hosting Woofstock, where you’ll be able to drink beer from Remedy, try food from the Remedy Saucy Boyz kitchen and buy goods from several vendors.

A pet costume parade will be judged by Kelcey Schroder of KS Photo. Rescue dogs from Dakota Dachshund Rescue also will be present at the event. Woofstock will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Remedy, 401 E. Eighth St. Pets and families are welcome.

Aug. 6: Movies in the Park
Head to Marion Park on Saturday with the family for a movie night under the Sioux Falls sky. The Parks & Recreation Mobile Recreation Unit also will be at the park before the movie begins for games and activities for the whole family to enjoy. The movie will be “Tom and Jerry,” and admission is free. The games will start at 7:30 p.m., and the movie will begin at 8 p.m. in the park at Marion Road and 45th Street.
Aug. 6-7: Dock Diving Competition and Dog Fun
You’ll definitely want to bring your dog to this event: Sioux Falls Scheels, Paws Pet Resort and Dock Dogs are hosting a Dock Diving Competition and other events Saturday and Sunday. There will be two pools available: one for competition and one recreational. There will be a doggy kissing booth available, as well as a tennis ball raffle, where your dog can go swimming for tennis balls, and a “sniffari” jungle, as well as Pup Cups from SDSU Ice Cream. This event will take place alongside the Hunting Expo at Scheels.
