Aug. 25: Art show

The Lot Summer Art Showcase at DaDa Gastropub, 402 N. Main Ave., is back for one final event Friday. All of the money earned by the showing artists stays with the artist. The full regular DaDa dinner and beverage service will begin at 5 p.m. with live music from Andrew Billion at 8 p.m.

Aug. 26: Soulcrate returns

After five years, Soulcrate returns to That Sounds Decent. The event will begin at 3 p.m. Saturday at the parking lot at 8th & Railroad Center and also features Mato Wayuhi, Hot Freaks, Hooks, Stem Cells, Juke the Tiger, Johnny Berkness & the Blind Owl Band and host Sean Jordan. Also part of the event: food trucks, drinks by PAve and a pop-up skatepark from Let’s Skate. It’s open to all ages, and as always it’s free. Find the details here. 

Aug. 26: 605 Made Night Market

Shop, dine and be entertained under the stars at the popular annual 605 Made Night Market, marking its sixth year in downtown Sioux Falls. The event runs from 3 to 9 p.m. in the parking lot on the southeast corner of Sixth Street and Phillips Avenue. Here’s what to expect:

Aug. 26: Whittier Neighborhood Night Market

The Community Revitalization Collective has scheduled two Whittier Neighborhood Night Markets to showcase the creative talents of that area, including art, food and crafts. The first event runs from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Faith Lutheran Church, 601 N. Cliff Ave. It is free and open to all ages. The next Night Market? Sept. 16.

Aug. 26: Rodeo

It’s once again time for the McCrossan Boys Ranch Xtreme Event Challenge featuring barrel racing, mutton busting and the Northern Bull Riding Tour.  Get a chance to see some of the fastest barrel racers and best bull riders in the country butting heads and battling it out for cash prizes and the honor of being crowned the Xtreme Event Challenge Champion. The 15th annual event will be in the outdoor Leo P. Flynn Memorial Arena at McCrossan Boys Ranch, 47135 260th St., just north of I-90 at the Marion Road exit. All proceeds will go to support the ranch’s programs for at-risk youths. Tickets are $15 in advance and $16 at the gate for adults; $5 in advance for kids and $8 at the gate. Those age 3 and younger are free. Gates open at 4 p.m. The Cardboard Saints will perform at 4:30 p.m. with the rodeo beginning at 5:30.

Aug. 29: Blackout poetry night

Come hang out and make new worlds with old words at Blackout Poetry Night at Full Circle Book Co-op, 123 W. 10th St. It’s open to the public. Bring any supplies you’d like, or use what the co-op supplies. This is a free crafty event, and it runs from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.

Coming up: Sept. 29

Youth rock bands in South Dakota have just about a month to prepare for the third annual Battle of the Bands, hosted by the South Dakota Rock & Roll Music Association. Doors will open at 6 p.m. Sept. 29 at the South Dakota Military Heritage Alliance, 1600 W. Russell St., with the event from 7 to 10 p.m. Tickets are $20 with kids 12 and younger free. Food, beverages and merchandise will be available.
