April 6: 30 Days of Biking
#30DaysOfBiking is an annual event that encourages people to ride their bikes every day in April and share their adventures online using the hashtag #30DaysofBiking and tagging Spoke-N-Sport in your daily photos. There’s no mileage minimum; you can ride outside or inside on a trainer. You can register here. The kickoff is Thursday.

April 6: New museum exhibit
The Old Courthouse Museum will host an opening reception for its new exhibit, “Playing Favorites: 100 Great Artifacts,” from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday. Every museum staff member and volunteer selected their favorite artifacts for the display. Many have interesting stories and personal connections or are unique to look at. The reception is free.

April 7: First Friday events
First Friday events this month include free admission at the Washington Pavilion from 5 to 8 p.m. You can visit the Kirby Science Discovery Center and the Visual Arts Center and purchase discounted tickets to educational films in the Wells Fargo CineDome. At EastBank Art Gallery, the First Friday reception will run from 6 to 8 p.m. New collections on display include member Ed Baatz and his wood carvings and art, and guest artist Jennifer Stone and her “wild women” collection. At Rehfeld’s Art & Framing, a reception will be 6 to 8 p.m. Featured artists for April are Steve Bormes, Jon Nibbe and Linn Skoglund Thygeson.

April 8: Carbs for Kids
The South Sioux Falls Kiwanis Club will present its annual Carbs for Kids 5K and Bake Sale on Saturday. The event supports youths in Sioux Falls through contributions to agencies like Kids Against Hunger and The Teddy Bear Den. The bake sale will run from 7:30 to 10 a.m. at Cherry Rock Park with the race starting at 8 a.m. For information, click here.

April 8: Egg-stravaganza
The Great Plains Zoo and Delbridge Museum of Natural History will host an Egg-stravaganza on Saturday. The Sioux Falls Canaries Community Fund is the official egg hunt sponsor so Cagey will be present.

The day involves egg hunts, animal encounters and enrichment, crafts and photos with Snow White and Marvel’s Falcon. Click here for the schedule of events and tickets.
April 8: Downtown egg hunt
The fifth annual Downtown Easter Egg Hunt will run from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday. The family-friendly event allows children to visit downtown Sioux Falls shops and businesses to collect candy-filled Easter eggs and other treats. Click here for a list of participants. No registration is required.
