Sioux Falls School District announces 2026 Facilities Task Force

The Sioux Falls School District has announced the members of a task force that will help guide its long-term facility planning.

Members applied to be part of the 2026 Facilities Task Force, which will begin meeting on Wednesday. The goal was to choose a diverse cross-section to represent the community, according to a statement from the school district.

The task force will be led by three chairs:

• Natalie Eisenberg, CEO of Click Rain Inc.
• Tony Erickson, Realtor with Hegg Realtors.
•  Micki Lundin, director of community partnerships/marketing at Avera.

The work builds on the district’s 2018 Facilities Task Force, which led to a $190 million bond referendum approved by voters with 85 percent support.

That investment resulted in the construction of Jefferson High School, Ben Reifel Middle School and, most recently, Marcella LeBeau Elementary, along with numerous districtwide improvements.

The 2018 task force also recommended planning for the future replacement of Whittier Middle School, noting its remaining lifespan at the time. Now, that timeline is approaching, making Whittier a key focus, alongside other current and future facility needs, the district said.

The task force is charged with reviewing growth projections, evaluating current and future facility needs and identifying prioritized, fiscally responsible projects for a potential future bond to present to the Sioux Falls School Board.

Meetings will be from 5:30 to 8 p.m. on these dates at the Instructional Planning Center and are open to the public:

• April 8
• April 22
• May 6
• May 20

The task force’s recommendations are expected to be presented to the School Board in August, followed by additional community engagement and a potential bond election in April 2027.
