Sioux Falls announces pool closure schedule

As the 2025 summer season wraps up, the city of Sioux Falls will adjust pool hours and stagger closing dates for the outdoor aquatic facilities starting Sunday. 

The official closing schedule for outdoor pools in Sioux Falls is: 

  • Sunday, Aug. 10: Frank Olson Pool and Terrace Park Family Aquatic Center.
  • Sunday, Aug. 24: Drake Springs Family Aquatic Center.
  • Sunday, Aug. 31: Kuehn Pool and Laurel Oak Family Aquatic Center.
  • Sunday, Sept. 21: Pioneer Spray Park, Hayward Park Splash Pad and the T. Denny Sanford Splash Pad at Jacobson Plaza.

Beginning Monday, the following facilities will reduce their hours and be open only on weekends from 1 to 8 p.m.: 

  • Kuehn Pool
  • Drake Springs Family Aquatic Center
  • Laurel Oak Family Aquatic Center 

Beginning Aug. 18, the following facilities will reduce their hours and be open only on weekends from 1 to 8 p.m.: 

  • Pioneer Spray Park
  • Hayward Park Splash Pad 

Lap swimming and water walking at Drake Springs will continue from 11 a.m. to 12:50 p.m. weekdays through Aug. 15. 

To close the season, two locations will host the annual Swimming Gone to the Dogs event this year. Dog owners are welcome to bring one or two dogs to swim. No registration is required. Dogs must follow off-leash rules and have updated shots. 

  • Tuesday, Aug. 12, 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Terrace Park Family Aquatic Center. 
  • Wednesday, Sept. 3, 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Laurel Oak Family Aquatic Center.

The Parks and Recreation Department also operates the Midco Aquatic Center and the Westside Recreation Center, which offer daily indoor aquatic opportunities year-round. An annual swim pass can be used for both indoor and outdoor aquatics facilities.
