Amazing things happen in our schools every day — if you know where to look! Do you know some school news others would love? Let us know at [email protected].

Congratulations to JFK Elementary kindergarten teacher Michelle Creviston, who was selected as the McDonald’s McTeacher of the Month for October. She earns $100 for her classroom, plus free coffee for a year.

R.F. Pettigrew Elementary held its first Trunk or Treat event, which drew a big crowd.

Wow. They call this “Our World” at Oscar Howe Elementary, and it is eye-opening. The school hosts an English Learner program and has drawn students from these places all over the globe.

Here’s a good sport: Laura B. Anderson Elementary principal Wade Helleson agreed to be taped to the wall after students raised $556.98 to support the student council, student rewards and future student-driven projects.

Fifth graders at Discovery Elementary participated in a Career Cafe event, hearing from many different professionals.

The newspeople in us love this new addition from St. Michael Elementary!

Love this idea! Garfield Elementary’s monthly Leader Lunch took place at Augustana University, where Garfield student leaders met with Augustana student leaders to learn more about what it’s like to attend college.

Nice job, Discovery Elementary. Students collected 1,412 pairs of socks for the Bishop Dudley Hospitality House.

And finally, check out these impressive Crocs that one John Harris Elementary parent made for a teacher!
