Self-reflection is a good practice, and what better time to do this than the start of the new year? Taking the past years’ experiences and challenges, reflecting on them and growing your insights is a healthy way to take care of yourself. I encourage you to think about what you currently are doing and why you are doing it, so that you can live your life with purpose. Having a sense of spiritual, personal and professional purpose partnered with a strong support system can aid in resilience to life’s challenges when they come.

My years of working in human resources have shown me the importance of the workplace culture when faced with challenges. A supportive organization, supervisor and colleagues can create a work environment that will help you through life’s challenges and encourage you to flourish. As you self-reflect, do you have this type of workplace culture? What is valuable to you in a workplace culture? Will you strive to impact your workplace’s culture for its betterment if there are opportunities for improvement, or are you ready for a change?

As I reflect, I love that I can work in a faith-based environment, be an authentic Christian and share that blessing with others, and have a meaningful impact on the world! I often wonder how many people desire the same workplace culture that I experience at the Bishop O’Gorman Catholic Schools, yet never find it. Through our six elementary schools, junior high and high school, we are educating, developing and empowering generations to be disciples of Christ. This level of support and development is offered to our employees too!

I am part of something larger than just delivering education in a school system. It is our mission as employees of the school system to form, support and encourage youth in their faith journey. We have a powerful, tangible, spiritual impact that spans from the students to their families and communities. By supporting staff who interact with students on a daily basis, I know that I have an indirect impact and can see the results of faith in action. As you self-reflect, what impact are you making, and what impact do you further want to make?

I personally invite you to experience the difference you can make at the Bishop O’Gorman Catholic Schools. Career opportunities span from teachers, business office professionals, educational assistants, custodians and after-school and summer care staff.

To dispel a common assumption: You don’t need to be Catholic for every career we offer. Our workplace is a place where you are valued and treated with dignity and respect. You’ll have a fulfilling career and a supportive work environment that fosters you professionally, personally and spiritually.

Wherever you are on your journey, I invite you to start with us, stay with us and grow with us! To find out more, visit us at ogknights.org/employment/why-bishop-og.
