Construction season is here, so we’re back with our weekly look at what projects are done, where you’ll find traffic impacts and what’s scheduled next.

What’s Done

Great news: The 49th Street extension from Western to West Avenue is fully open to traffic. Take a look:

What’s Underway

41st and Sycamore Avenue reconstruction with overlay: Traffic is shifted to the west side of Sycamore Avenue and the north side of 41st Street.

Removals have started on the southeast quadrant plus the south side of 41st Street west of Sycamore Avenue.

In mid-September the mill and overlay is scheduled between 26th Street and 41st Street.

41st Street & I-29 Interchange: Mainline paving is complete for 2022.

Crews will start to build retaining walls for southbound Interstate 29 on-ramp and southbound Interstate 29 off-ramp after Labor Day.

Arrowhead Parkway – 10th Street to Six Mile Road: The contractor is grading and placing base along Arrowhead west of Six Mile Road and working on water main and storm sewer east of Six Mile Road.

Retaining wall installation along box culvert was completed last week.

Cliff Avenue Rehabilitation – 26th to Pam Road: Crews are currently working on full depth repairs in the intersection and anticipated to be complete by the end of this week.

They will need to finish up pavement markings and topsoil/restoration.

What’s Next

Beginning on Wednesday, Aug. 31, the outside southbound lane of South Minnesota Avenue was closed between 33rd and 37th Street to allow crews to complete sidewalk improvements.  Work is anticipated to be complete by late September.

Beginning on Friday, Sept. 2, there will be intermittent short-term lane restrictions and road closures alone South Kelley Avenue between 41st Street and 43rd Street to allow crew to perform repairs to the sanitary sewer.  The work is anticipated to be complete within one week.

Beginning on Tuesday, Sept. 6, portions of the westbound outside lane of 12th Street between Interstate 29 and Valley View Road will be closed to traffic to allow crews to perform concrete sidewalk repairs.  The work is anticipated to be completed within one week.

Beginning on Tuesday, Sept. 6, the outside eastbound lane on West Madison Street will be closed between Harlem and Kiwanis Avenues.  Q3 Contracting will be working in the area and should be complete by the end of the day.

Beginning on Tuesday, Sept. 6, West 33rd Street will be closed between Western and Kiwanis Avenues to be performing an asphalt overlay.  The work is anticipated being complete by the end of Wednesday.

Beginning on Tuesday, Sept. 6, Glenview Road will be closed between 56th and 57th Street to allow crews to perform repairs to sanitary sewer.  The repairs are anticipated to be complete within one week.

Beginning on Tuesday, Sept. 6,  54th Street will have intermittent short term lane restrictions and road closures between Cliff and Briarwood Avenues to allow crews to perform repairs to the sanitary sewer.  The repairs are anticipated to be complete within two weeks.

Beginning on Tuesday, Sept. 6, East 6th Street will be closed between Phillips and Weber Avenue to allow crews to work on sanitary sewer.  The bike trail on the east side of the Big Sioux River Greenway will be detoured via the following graphic.  Work is anticipated to be completed in mid-October.

Beginning on Wednesday, Sept. 7, North 4th Avenue will be reduced to two lanes, north of Hermosa Drive to allow contractor to install new sewer.  One lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction and work is anticipated to be complete in one week.

Beginning on Wednesday, Sept. 7, the outside northbound lane on North Kiwanis Avenue will be closed at Bailey Street.  Q3 Contracting will be working in the area.
