Road Report: Nov. 7, 2022
Construction season is winding down, but we’re still offering our weekly look at what projects are done, where you’ll find traffic impacts and what’s scheduled next.
What’s done
Sixth Street: Sixth Street between Phillips and Weber avenues reopened to traffic a week ago.
Cliff Avenue: All work on Cliff Avenue between 11th and 26th streets is complete for this year, and all lanes are open to traffic. Concrete repairs and accessible curb ramp improvements were performed in this segment of Cliff ahead of an asphalt overlay in 2023.
Marion Road: Marion Road between Foundation Court and the Crooks/Renner Road reopened to traffic Wednesday.

The contractor will be working in this area again next fall to add a turn lane at 259th Street and sidewalks in some areas after Xcel Energy relocates power poles, but impacts to traffic next year will be minimal.
60th Street North: 60th Street North between Westport and Minnesota avenues reopened to traffic Friday.

What’s underway
41st & Sycamore: Work at 41st Street and Sycamore Avenue is making good progress.

Crews are continuing to work on finishing up the paving, median, sidewalks, lighting and traffic signals. Most work is expected to be complete and all lanes open to traffic by mid- to late November.

Supply chain delays with some traffic signal components mean that the permanent traffic signals likely won’t be installed until December or January.

Minnesota Avenue: Work on North Minnesota Avenue is nearing completion. The contractor is working on finishing up the median, pavement striping and lighting work.

Northbound traffic is being switched over to the newly constructed northbound lanes Friday, but traffic will continue to be reduced to just one lane in each direction while the contractor finishes up the striping work.

All lanes are expected to reopen to traffic sometime next week, weather permitting. Some of the lighting work won’t take place until the spring of 2023 — again, supply chain delays — but impacts to traffic should be minimal.

41st Street: Work is wrapping up for the year on 41st Street between Interstate 29 and Marion Road.

All lanes are now open to traffic except for westbound traffic just west of I-29, which is still reduced to one lane. Construction will stop for the winter as soon as the retaining wall work at the northwest corner of 41st and I-29 is complete in a few weeks.

38th & Shirley: Work also is in progress at the corner of 38th Street and Shirley Avenue on accessible curb ramp and sidewalk improvements, as well as a new traffic signal. These improvements are needed to handle the expected increase in traffic in this area next year when 41st Street east of I-29 is under construction. Work on the interchange itself and 41st between I-29 and Shirley will commence in the spring of 2023 when weather allows.
What’s next
There’s a meeting Wednesday for public input into a corridor study for northern Lincoln County involving portions of highways 11 and 115. Click here to learn more.
