Road Report: Nov. 13, 2023
Construction season is almost over, but here’s a look at what projects are wrapping up and those that still might slow traffic.
What’s underway
Sixth Street: Work is almost complete on Sixth Street between Interstate 229 and Sycamore Avenue.

Concrete joint resealing should be complete this week, with pavement striping to follow next week.

All lanes are expected to be fully open to traffic by the middle of next week.

26th Street: Work also is winding down on 26th Street between Cleveland and Alpine avenues.

All manhole and valve box adjustments on the north side of the road should be complete this week.

All lanes will be reopened to traffic sometime next week as soon as the concrete around the manhole and valve box adjustments gains sufficient strength to support traffic.

41st & I-29: Work also will be wrapping up for the season at the 41st Street and Interstate 29 interchange.

All lanes of traffic will be opening up in the next week or two for the winter.

The interchange will be converted to the diverging diamond configuration next spring.

What’s next
Minnesota Avenue: Beginning today, northbound traffic on Minnesota Avenue will be reduced to one lane at the Benson Road intersection to allow crews to perform pavement repairs. The location of the lane closure will change as the work progresses, but at least one lane of northbound traffic will be maintained at all times. Southbound traffic will not be impacted. This work is expected to be complete in about two weeks.
Minnesota Avenue: Beginning today, the outside northbound lane on Minnesota Avenue will be closed between Second and Fourth streets to allow crews to remove trees. This work is expected to be complete in one day.
Cliff Avenue: Beginning Wednesday, Cliff Avenue will be reduced to one lane in each direction between Rice and Chambers streets near the Big Sioux River to allow crews to work on storm drainage improvements near the river. This work is expected to be complete in two to three months.
Marion Road: Beginning Wednesday, the outside northbound lane of Marion Road will be closed between 12th and 26th streets to allow crews to perform sidewalk repairs. In addition, the outside eastbound lane of 12th Street also will be closed from Marion Road to Ebenezer Avenue as part of this work. This project is expected to be complete in about one week.
