Road Report: Nov. 10, 2025
Construction season is winding down. Here’s our weekly look at what projects are done, where you’ll find traffic impacts and what’s scheduled next as long as the weather holds.
What’s done
South Veterans Parkway: On Nov. 5, Southeastern and Sycamore avenues from 69th to 85th streets reopened to traffic with gravel surfacing.
The final surfacing for these streets will be completed in the spring of 2026 as part of the South Veterans Parkway joint project of the city of Sioux Falls and the South Dakota Department of Transportation. This work is part of the second segment of construction for Veterans, which is from Cliff to Sycamore avenues. Construction on this section of new road began in March and will continue through 2026. The southern portion of Veterans Parkway will occur in segments, with each segment taking approximately two years to complete.
What’s underway
North Drive: The North Drive bridge preservation project is nearing completion. The bridge over the diversion channel remains closed to traffic, but most of the work is finished.

Crews have completed the low-slump dense concrete deck overlay, sleeper slabs, drop inlets, storm sewer piping, special surface finish on the barrier curb and bridge railing repainting.

Remaining work includes grading for the concrete approach slabs and new sidewalk, paving a 2-inch asphalt overlay to connect the existing roadway to the new concrete pavement, constructing the recreation trail tie-in from North Drive to the existing trail and installing a chain-link pedestrian fence.

The bridge will stay closed to vehicles and pedestrians until mid-November.

At the nearby bridge over the BNSF Railway, all preservation is complete, and the bridge is now fully open to traffic.

Linedrive Avenue: On Nov. 5, Linedrive Avenue closed from 41st Street to Burns Avenue. The westbound right-turn lane and eastbound left-turn lane on 41st to access Linedrive also will be closed. The contractor will be performing utility work, which is expected to be completed by the end of the day on Tuesday.
Northview Avenue: On Nov. 5, the southbound lane of Northview Avenue closed between 60th Street North and 54th Street North. The roadway will be restricted to one-lane travel with traffic control in place. The contractor will be performing utility work, which is expected to be completed by the end of the day on Wednesday.
Veterans Parkway: On Nov. 5, the outside southbound lane of Veterans Parkway closed between Madison and Maple streets to allow the contractor to complete concrete repairs. Weather permitting, the repairs are anticipated to be completed in one week.
Elmwood Avenue: On Nov. 6, Elmwood Avenue closed from 10th to 12th streets. Traffic will be detoured onto Holly Avenue. The east sidewalk will be closed, and pedestrian traffic will be detoured to the west sidewalk along Elmwood. The contractor will be performing utility work, which is expected to be completed by the end of the day on Thursday.
What’s next
11th Street: Beginning at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, two lanes on the north side of 11th Street between Minnesota and Main avenues will be closed. The roadway will have one lane open for travel. The north sidewalk will be closed, and pedestrian traffic will be detoured to the south sidewalk. Parking will be affected within the work area. Barnhart Crane & Rigging will be making a delivery and installation. The work is anticipated to be completed and traffic control removed by the end of the day.
