Road Report: Aug. 11, 2025
Construction season is here, so we’re back with our weekly look at what projects are done, where you’ll find traffic impacts and what’s scheduled next.
What’s underway
14th Street: Accessible curb ramp improvements are underway downtown on 14th Street between Dakota and Second avenues.

Work was just completed last week on the north side of 14th Street at First, Second and Dakota avenues and is in progress now on the north side of 14th at Phillips and Main avenues.

After work is complete on the north side of 14th, crews will switch to the south side of the street.

All work on 14th Street is expected to be complete in mid-to-late September.

17th & Cliff: A new traffic signal is being installed at 17th Street and Cliff Avenue.

Work on the signal infrastructure, sidewalk and accessible curb ramps on the west side of Cliff Avenue was completed last week, and work has shifted now to the east side of the street.

Work on the east side of Cliff Avenue is expected to be complete in about three weeks.

The signals themselves will be installed later this year after they are manufactured and delivered to the site.

14th Street: The outside eastbound lane of 14th Street closed just west of Minnesota Avenue on Aug. 7 to allow crews to complete storm drainage repairs. This work is expected to be complete in one to two weeks.
What’s next
Minnesota: Beginning today, the outside southbound lane on Minnesota Avenue will be closed at 11th Street to allow crews to perform utility work. The eastbound left turn lane and the eastbound left through lane of 11th Street also will be closed as part of this work. This work is expected to be complete in about two days.
Donnelly & Six Mile: Beginning today, the parking lane along the north side of Donnelly Drive and the west shoulder of Six Mile Road will be closed to allow crews to construct sidewalk and accessible curb ramp improvements. This work is expected to be complete in seven to 10 days.
North Drive: Beginning today, the westbound lane of North Drive across the bridge over the diversion channel will be closed to allow crews to begin bridge repairs. One lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction until mid-September, at which time the bridge will be closed for one to two months to allow the contractor to complete the repair work. Work is anticipated to be complete in mid-November.
I-229: Beginning at 8 p.m. Tuesday, the southbound driving lane on Interstate 229 will be closed near the Cliff Avenue exit to allow crews to set bridge girders. This lane closure will be in place until 6 a.m. Wednesday. A second overnight lane closure for this same area is scheduled from 8 p.m. Thursday until 6 a.m. Friday. This work is part of the interchange reconstruction project at Cliff Avenue and I-229. The overall completion date for this project is in the spring of 2027.
