Road Report: April 27, 2026
Construction season is here, so we’re back with our weekly look at what projects are done, where you’ll find traffic impacts and what’s scheduled next.
What’s underway
South Veterans Parkway: Work on the South Veterans Parkway project between Cliff and Sycamore avenues is progressing with multiple activities underway.

Bridge work continues, with crews hauling in special backfill material at the bridge approaches to support long-term stability.

Paving operations have advanced significantly, with two eastbound lanes completed between Southeastern to Sycamore avenues.

Following this, paving will proceed in the opposite direction back toward Southeastern Avenue.

Work is expected to reach substantial completion in late 2026, with final completion anticipated in the spring of 2027.

In conjunction with the project, Sycamore Avenue from 69th to 85th streets closed on April 22. There will be a signed detour directing traffic to Cliff Avenue and Highway 11.
I-229 & Cliff: Work is off to a good start on the interchange reconstruction project at Interstate 229 and Cliff Avenue.

The northbound on- and off-ramps at Cliff Avenue will remain closed until sometime this fall.

Crews have removed the northbound bridge and are working on pavement removal along I-229.

The southbound on- and off-ramps remain open.

The project is expected to be substantially complete, with all lanes open to traffic, in late 2026, and final completion is anticipated in the spring of 2027.

Veterans Parkway: The northbound lanes of Veterans Parkway were reduced to two lanes on April 24 between Maple and Rice streets to allow the contractor to perform restoration work. Work will be completed within two weeks.
What’s next
Madison Street: Beginning today, westbound traffic will be reduced to one lane on Madison Street west of Marion Road to allow crews to work on concrete repairs. One lane of traffic will remain open. The repairs are anticipated to be completed within two weeks.
Marion Road: Beginning today, southbound traffic will be reduced to one lane on Marion Road between 12th Street and Dardanella Road to allow crews to work on concrete repairs. One lane of traffic will remain open. The repairs are anticipated to be completed within two weeks.
Veterans Parkway: Beginning today, the northbound outside lane and shoulder of Veterans Parkway will be closed between 26th and 41st streets to allow crews to complete concrete pavement and curb and gutter repairs. At a minimum, one lane of northbound traffic will remain open. In the upcoming weeks, the location of the lane closure will vary. Access to businesses, homes and side streets will be maintained. Construction will be ongoing through July. On April 22, the southbound outside lane and shoulder were closed in the area to begin repair work.
Ronning Drive: Beginning today, Ronning Drive will be closed on the east side of the intersection at Meyer Lane to allow crews to perform repairs on the concrete valley gutter. Motorists should use Meyer Lane to enter and exit the neighborhood. This work is anticipated to be completed in one week.
